Alec Anders at age 10 has an IQ of 149 and was already in his senior year of high school. Alec was smart but like most 10 years olds he was oblivious and gullible to the world around him. He trusted everyone around him and didn't think twice about the intentions of the people around him.  
 
Sasha on the other hand was a manipulator he and Alec are friends but the true reason he befriended Alec was to manipulate him and groom him. Sasha is 19 and is about to flunk out so he befriended Alec and makes him do his work. Alec doesn't realize he is pretty much Sasha's slave and has no clue about Sasha and his criminal record. Sasha has quite a bit of charges ranging from shoplifting to attempted kidnapping.
 
Riley and Sasha have been dating for 6 years. Riley isn't any better than Sasha. She has been helping him with his crimes and helping him plan what they need to do to trick Alec. She has a criminal record as well only she had succeeded in kidnapping and raping a 5-year-old boy and torturing him for 7days straight.
