"I'd like to get your advice on this godhood thing," you say.
"I thought you'd never ask," says Loki with a smile. "One of my favorite subjects."
"The first thing you need to know is that godhood is technically a very advanced form of magic that uses the neural interpreter. In that way it is basically super-sorcery. The biggest difference is that it uses the devotion of others as a power source instead of mana, and the fact that it can be enabled regardless of the magic level. Another aspect is that instead of using its resource and replenishing later, the piety of your followers limits what you can do, not how often you can do it.
"My recommendation is to start amassing followers. The more you have the more you can do. They have to adore you, which doesn't necessarily require that they treat you as a god, but they have to at least treat you like a god. For instance, many celebrities would receive a lot of divine power from their followers if they were gods. Some of us old gods might even use that little ploy," he says with a wink.
"You're a celebrity?" you ask. "Which one."
"Well, that's a little embarrassing," he says, "I'm Razor Blane, lead singer of the Norwegian punk band Razorock."
"Sorry," you say, "I've never heard of you."
"Yeah, we don't have much of a following outside of Norway . . . and the Norwegians tend to prefer Death Metal to Punk Rock. It gets me by, but by no means fuels me up like before. That kind of celebrity would take up entirely too much of my time.
"Anyway, back to the lesson. Fans are fickle, so you might see your abilities wax and wane over time. Some things, like your realm, only rely on having a certain number of followers when you make it, then it exists forever. Most however come and go. I can't create life anymore for instance."
"Wait, you used to be able to create people," you say, then quickly add, hitting yourself aside your head lightly, "Oh, right, what am I thinking . . . god."
"Yeah, the biggest magic is reserved for gods . . . and hackers I guess. You might not even need to power and support your godhood for all I know with Sams hack active."
"So, how many followers do I need before I get a realm?"
"You like the divine realm thing, huh?"
"It could come in pretty handy."
"Well, it all depends on how big you want your realm to be. At around a thousand worshipers you can get a tiny realm, about two acres. That's as small as they come. At ten thousand your looking a twenty acres, etc. It's your standard geometric progression. I had millions of worshipers when I built my realm. I sure couldn't make it now. Any other questions about godhood?"
"I think I'll let all of that sink in first," you say.
"Well then, what else would you like to learn about?"
What would you like to learn next?
Or are you done?
Infinity Pocket, Black Hack, Others?
