"I guess I'd like to learn more about psionics," you say.
"Oh, you like that Telepathy, eh?" says Loki. "Psionics is where the neural interface command structure actually started. Basically they boil down to three basic abilities: Telepathy, Telekinesis, and Extra-Sensory Perception. You've already tried a bit of the Telepathy power when we communicated telepathically by the falls. The neural interface lets you just think of what you want to do, and it happens. First you're going to need Psionics active in the local area of course. Telepathy let's you do anything you need to do mind-to-mind. This includes telepathy, mind control, empathy, even completely reprogramming someone's mind. It's only one ability, but it is versatile enough to do a lot of different things. I don't really feel like being a Guinea Pig here, so I'll let you play with that later. No offense intended."
"None taken."
"Okay, just like telepathy, telekinesis is one power with the versatility to do a ton of other stuff. It is basically affecting the physical world with your mind. Focus on the water in the lake and try to lift up a ball of water out of it."
"Alright," you say. Looking at the lake you imagine a sphere of water about the size of a beach ball rising from it. You are perhaps a bit more surprised than you should be when a ball of water starts floating out of the lake, and in breaks apart and falls back into the lake.
"You see there," says Loki, "you lost your concentration. Try again."
You focus on the lake again and draw out a sphere of water. The shimmering orb floats calmly above the surface of the lake, small bits of debris, and even a small fish swimming in it.
"Good," says Loki, "now Sam maxed out all of your abilities you say, so let's try something tougher. Try focusing on keeping the water aloft while dropping everything that isn't water."
You do as Loki suggested, and notice the leaves, dirt, and fish drop back into the lake.
"Good Job. You're catching on quickly. Now something even harder. The water still isn't 100% pure. There are dissolved solids, gasses, and other liquids in it. Try holding onto only H2O, and pushing everything else out of the ball."
Again you do as Loki suggests. Concentrating hard on the sphere, you notice it getting more and more clear. Even though it had seemed perfectly clear when you started, your experiment shows that it obviously was not.
"Excellent," says Loki, "now you have a ball of Zero Water. That is very hard to produce in a labratory, congratulations. Now the next step. Try to slow down the movement of the water molecules."
Doing as he says, you notice frost starting to appear in the ball, quickly spreading out as the ball freezes solid in a matter of seconds, expanding as it cools. Now you have a huge ice ball hovering over the lake. Oddly, it's perfectly clear with absolutely no cloudiness whatsoever. You know that it is because there are no gasses trapped inside to cause light distortion, but it is incredible to look at anyway.
"Great," says Loki, "that just about does it. Why don't you finish by speeding up the molecules as quickly as you can."
You focus all of your energy on doing as Loki says. The ball of Ice suddenly explodes into a puff of steam. Incredibly, you appear to have caused the water to undergo sublimation, transitioning from a solid to a gas without becoming liquid.
"Well, I think you have Telekinesis down pat. Shall we move on to Extra-Sensory Perception?"
"Yeah," you say, "sound's good."
"Okay ESP lets you use any of your senses remotely. Lets start by trying to see what's in my room. There is a toy in my bedroom. Tell me what it is."
You focus on seeing into Loki's bedroom, a place you have never seen, but have a reasonable idea of where it is. Suddenly you see the room as though you were standing in it while the environment around you fades to a shadow, almost like augmented reality.
"I'm there," you say as you look around the room. It is futuristic and tastefully decorated like the rest of Loki's house. On his bedside table is an action figure. She-Woman, from the classic cartoon, still in it's box. "She-Woman?" you say.
"Hey," replies Loki, "don't judge. Now try Clairpresence. Bring the rest of you senses to join your sight."
You do as he says, and it's suddenly like you are actually standing in the room other than the fact that you have no body there. Your real location is like a light shadowy overly.
"This is surreal," you say.
"Yeah, it's pretty trippy," says Loki. "Now move your clairpresence into the living room. It's almost like walking."
You move your focus just as he suggested and find yourself moving through the closed door and into the living room. You notice Cora sitting idly on the floor playing with her dress.
"Okay, I'm there."
"Great, now ESP doesn't just work with space, it also works with time. Try to see what happened just before you arrived, and watch it play out."
Doing as he asks you see the image fade out briefly, then you see Loki working at his terminal. Suddenly you appear in the room. Even though you remember the event, it has a different feel when viewing it from a third person perspective.
"That is so weird."
"I guess it's working then. One more thing. You aren't limited to the past. You can also view the future. Unlike the past what you see is probability mathematics at work, so they aren't likely to be 100% accurate. Try watching us return to the room after this little outing."
You do as he asks, and watch as the two of you enter the room laughing. Cora stands and waits to greet you, a smile on her face. You let the image fade.
"That was totally incredible!" you exclaim.
"Glad you liked it," says Loki, "what do you want to learn next?"
