IIRC, this was a belief held in the 18th century without evidence by the physicians at the time, and it has never been confirmed by modern science. Doesn't mean it can't be used in the current story though. Just means it doesn't have to be since that's not confirmed to be something that reflects reality. : More something that is still being debated, looks like - [https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.3402/snp.v6.31927], but most earlier studies have not found effectiveness... although as that article points out, this is something hard to measure! Still, as you say, use it if it's helpful in the story, don't if it isn't. --02: | : More something that is still being debated, looks like - [https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.3402/snp.v6.31927], but most earlier studies have not found effectiveness... although as that article points out, this is something hard to measure! Sperm getting into the uterus - female orgasm as a factor
One factor (? in RL how major it is; may be of interest to make it a major factor in Incubus) in whether sperm gets into the uterus is whether the girl has an orgasm. In the resulting muscle contractions, one major thing is the cervix being "dipped" into a possible pool of sperm; IIRC, this also involves the cervical opening dilating slightly. --Kinsey AO3 (talk) 22:55, 10 December 2022 (CET)
