Well, it's all linked to the star's color, actually. Different colors signal your sexual orientation. For example, the one I was wearing yesterday is pink.

★ A pink star means you're looking for a male partner.
★ A blue star on the other hand means you want a female partner.
★ A purple star means you're bisexual and fine with a partner of either gender.
★ And lastly, there's the black star. It's special, as it's not tied to sexual orientation. It means you've been a bad girl and need to be punished.

…And the same in Swedish? Like, what do you mean by "punishment"?

Well, since this is technically a "game", there are certain rules, and the black star means we've broken them. Of course, you can wear it without breaking any rules too, but…

Okay… So, what are the rules then?

It kind of depends on your role. You know, whether you're the one wearing the star or taking advantage of the one wearing it.

So, first of all, there are three general rules of play. Firstly, anyone who knows about the game can play it. There's no age limit, and it's not restricted to any gender or sexuality either. This basically means that as a Star-Bearer, you may be approached by both young and old people, and you can also approach those who wear stars that match with you.

So if a boy wears a blue star, I can approach him. Got it, but do I also need to wear one when I do?

No, only the "target" needs to have one. Of course, you can wear one too, and if your colors match, it's a pretty good thing as you're both signaling interest!

The second general rule is that you should only wear the star if it's considered somehow "unacceptable" or "taboo" for you to be having sex. If it's not taboo, it doesn't need to be kept hidden, if that makes sense. That is why it's mostly worn by children, as sex with kids is perhaps the biggest social taboo of them all.

I should add that since these are just general rules, they really can't be broken. They're more of a heads-up of what to expect when partaking in this game.

Well, technically, you can break the second rule by wearing a star as an adult, no?

Now, we get to the actually important stuff, the rules that we are not allowed to break.

So, the rule number one is what my syster likes to call the "Fight Club" rule.

Right, so the rule basically means we do not talk about the stars or advertise them outside, well … these kinds of "safe" environments. It also means that we do not seek out partners wearing the star being all like "Look at what I have", and instead, we let THEM come to US. As you might know, this area sees a lot of tourism, and some of the outsiders may not be so understanding of our games and traditions, so we just try not to talk about it to avoid unwanted, negative attention. These marks are quiet, silent signals for those in the know, and it MUST stay that way. If you know about the star, you know, and if you don't, well … you stay in the dark.

How do people learn about the star then?

These secrets have a way of spreading around on their own. Right, Milka?

Rule number two, once discovered and approached, you have a duty to serve your date! Like, why wear it if you're just gonna refuse? Doesn't make sense, doesn't it? Of course, it might get uncomfortable in a situation where someone you don't like or someone who's really gross approaches you, but what are you gonna do? Rules are rules. Don't play if you don't like them. Trying to erase the star once you've been discovered with it is against the rules, as it means trying to avoid responsibility. Don't use "I forgot I had one" as an excuse either. All that being said, you can still hide the star from the eyes of those you don't want to interact with to circumvent this rule.

Rule number three, never request money or any other payment. We're not prostitutes. This is all for fun, all for free, with no strings attached. You shouldn't ask for favors in return either. Not too strict of a rule to be honest, and there are exceptions. If, for example, you're offered a favor or a little gift, you can take it. Just never ask for one.

Rule number four, we must NEVER use the stars as means of trying to lure people into trouble. NEVER EVER.

Rule number five, NEVER draw these markings on other people without their consent. Only draw on yourself!

The last two ones are extremely strict. They're heinous crimes for us to commit! Breaking them will result in punishment!

If you're in a situation when you might have to say no, you shouldn't honestly be wearing a star in the first place. Men get really excited about us, you know, so it's a bit rude to let them down, don't you think?

What Milka says is true, but of course, you still may still HAVE to say no in some situations. Like, what if the risk of being discovered is too great? We've got to protect our secrets, and we've got to protect our dates too. We don't want anyone to end up in jail for a little bit of fun, now don't we? It's advisable to share contacts in such situations so you can meet up later, but it's not a requirement. It's just a nice courtesy and what I prefer to do personally. The same can be said about being hit on when you're already claimed by someone else. If you want it to turn into a threesome, that's fine, but you don't have to, especially not if your original partner doesn't want to share you. Here, I'd recommend sharing contacts too.

All that said, you obviously shouldn't lie about being busy, or about having to go home, your parents being nearby, et cetera… That shit's not cool. Some disobedience will be tolerated, but not in the long term. Basic situational awareness goes a long way here.

I mean, that's the short answer. The long answer is that our "clients" have rules as well, and they are even stricter than our rules.

There are five rules for them, and even though we don't follow them as Star-Bearers, they're important for us to know.

One, same rule for them as is for us. Do not advertise the game to those that do not know.

Two, consent. Always make your intentions known as you approach a star-bearer. The star is NOT a "free use", "rape me", or a "have your way with me" sign to take advantage of as you please! No surprises, no white vans without license plates, and preferably not even touching before consent has been given! Consent does not have to be signaled verbally, but as a client, you must listen when the Star-Bearer says "no".

Three, also consent. Do not force or trick your target into doing something they're not comfortable with. This rule encompasses all the sexual acts under the sun, from the most vanilla stuff like oral sex all the way to even the most extreme of acts, like inflicting physical harm. If you say anal is off-limits, they can't do that. Simple as. Now, of course, this rule kind of comes back to what the "wearers" can do as well since we can't just say everything is off-limits. That would just be considered a refusal of service and us breaking the rule number two.

Four, respect the privacy and secrets of the Star-Bearers. Taking photographs for personal use is fine, especially here in the information age where sexting, nudes, and such are a fun way to spice things up when you're not close to each other . . . but do not try to get them in trouble and do not try to expose them with photographs and such. Do not even use the threat of exposure as means of blackmail. Never ever!

And five, never draw on others without consent, yadda yadda, the same rule as we have. This also ties to the fourth rule, as you shouldn't solicit sex when they're not wearing a star. Trying to get them to wear it through trickery when they themselves don't want to is a huge no-no.

All these rules make sense to me. I mean, it's all about protecting ourselves and our secrecy, as well as those who use our, erm . . . "services", right?

Yeah, exactly. The rules may seem restrictive at first, but they still allow for a lot of fun, and at the end of the day, they're there for the protection of us all.

And since you already asked it, our "duty" to serve is obviously most affected by the two rules of consent. Yes, we MUST serve if we CHOOSE to wear the star out of our OWN free will, but how we choose to perform the said service is dictated by our boundaries and what we're comfortable with. Keep that in mind, will you?

Exactly! If the rules have been broken somehow, but the parties involved don't care or even prefer the outcome, no foul can be considered done.

★ As I already explained, a star means interest in casual sex. All rules I mentioned apply, no special rules here. It's what we always wear and what's more recognizable to everyone around us. The four other markings are based on "suits" of a playing card deck and are meant to signal more specific interests.

♡ First, there's the romantic heart. Want yourself a boyfriend, or even a girlfriend? This mark means you're looking for a long-term romantic partner. Here, refusing service is considered acceptable, as you're not actually looking to have casual sex with just anyone, but rather an actual lover and a long-term partner! Because of this, many of the rules don't apply here, and you typically can't really be punished either while wearing it.

What do you mean by "typically"?

Well, I mean, technically everything's possible, and gods can be fickle. Besides, there are ways you can use the heart to cause trouble as well. For example, if you wear it just to lure people into hitting on you and then always rejecting them, especially in a rude manner… That's going to get you in trouble, so maybe don't do that, okay? If you're gonna reject someone, just say they're not your type or something like that. Anyway, moving on!

♢ Diamond signals experience. It means you're open to suggestions and trying new things and that you're just looking to try kinkier things in general. In plain Swedish, it means you're a pervert. An additional signal to our targets, if you may. There aren't really any additional rules here, nor are there any rules that don't apply, but rules also become stricter. Like, you are still allowed to have your boundaries and can refuse acts based on your own kinks and all, but generally speaking, once you cross into this territory, refusal of service begins to turn more and more unacceptable.

♤ Spades specifically means you're a slave looking for a master.

Hahahahaha! Calm down, it's just games and make-believe! You're not literally about to become anyone's slave if you wear it. Basically, as a make-believe "slave", you signal wanting to take orders. It also signals interest in restraints, torture, humiliation, sadomasochistic stuff, et cetera…

In the same way it does everywhere else, I guess? You set and discuss your boundaries with your partner, and then you fuck. Same rules, same restrictions.

♧ Lastly, the club is similar to a spade. It means you're a pet looking for an owner. It's almost entirely the same, as "masters" rarely care if they get a pet or a slave. In a sense, you could even call them interchangeable to a point. Anyway, if you want to release your inner animal, this is what you want to wear. Well, you may want to wear a diamond and talk about and discuss your interest with the one approaching you. Like, just say you're a "dom" or a "top" or something like that. It's just a traditional title because the star came first, with the other markings being later additions.

Not necessarily. It's not inherently a bad thing, y'know. Sex can take many forms, and some may even prefer to be controlled… Some may even enjoy the idea of being a slave…

For that, there are no real rules beyond "as long as you're okay with it" or "as long as you're wearing the star". Like I said before, according to rules we shouldn't refuse, but that doesn't mean we should just allow them to have their way indefinitely. Just put a stop to it after you feel done.
