That's pretty game-like, not usually how confidence works in the real world. Taking some actions and gaining some success from them is what raises confidence. Other things like psyching yourself up and changing the kinds of language you use to describe yourself and your intentions can also give a temporary boost to your confidence, same for finding out you are more liked and better accepted than you originally thought. My thoughts were that seeing Savanah's positive reaction to what he was doing with her started developing his confidence, and then this change in language here in this encounter with his mother was the thing to solidify the transformation. Temporary would be okay, once that confidance gets him Savannah and her daughter it can become permanent. I know it's game like in it's execution, but wanted the numbers for other writers to have a base of reference to use if anyone besides us ever chose to add to this.
If they chose to write a path that started in the somewhat Confident section they would know that Jack has had at least two other partners and so forth.
