Must be true/part 14
“Umm… well… maybe?” I said in response to Jodi’s question about whether or not she’s pregnant now. I was starting to become more cautious with this curse, especially around talking about reproduction. Half the reason I wasn’t giving her much information about it was actually because I was afraid of changing the way sex works for the entire world with a careless comment, although I had already been pretty careless about it when talking about how it is for just myself.
Ok, what have I been told about sex already? How should I answer this question? My sex-ed class did mention pregnancy tests and how they worked, but most of it had more to do with questions asked by the other students because they got interested. Something about how it detects the hormones.
“Umm… well… there is really no way to tell this early whether or not you are pregnant. You have to take a pregnancy test to know, but those don’t work unless you have already been pregnant for weeks.” I said, trying my best to reliably relay the things I had heard about the subject.
“Weeks!?” Jodi said with an aghast tone. “Do we gotta wait that long before we try to get me pregnant again too?”
“Uhh… no. We can keep having sex even when we are waiting for you to be able to take the test.” I told her.
“Have sex? What’s that?” She asks. Wait, did I seriously never tell her?
“Uhh… sex is the name of the game we just played” I tell her.
“Oh.” She said. “Ok, good! I like sex! I hope I get pregnant.”
“Yeah, me too.” I said.
“Ok, so what do we do now?” She asked.
