Biography
Winston Graff suffers from some level of gynophobia, which he keeps secret from others. He does not like being around women and has a low tolerance for girls. He is under the mistaken impression that he is actually homosexual, although he is not actually sexually attracted to guys. He just doesn't really understand his own gynophobia.
He married his wife because his parents arranged the marriage, insisting that he get married and have some kids. When his wife later died in childbirth, it was an experience that was tragic yet, in some ways, also liberating for him.
His friends and family have tried to encourage him to remarry since, but he has used the excuse of his wife's death to avoid the topic, saying he was too heartbroken over the experience and still dedicated to his wife.
This did leave him to raise his daughter Wilma alone, however. But, he has decided he was going to raise Wilma as a boy. Although her name is Wilma and her gender is registered as female on her birth certificate, he has started referring to her as his son Wilford, dressing "him" in boy clothes, and treating him in every way like a boy.
He has also gotten away with playing her off as a boy on her school registration as the Mahogany Hills school system, being the school for such a small town, was quite willing to take the parents' word for it on the child's name and gender on the registration form without asking for a birth certificate.
