Life Hacks/Notes on Inga's personality
Ingrid is someone who's entire life is driven by appearances, fulfilling what society tells her a strong and in-charge woman has to be. As such, she has bought into the message that a woman can "have it all" in terms of a powerful career and being a good mother at the same time. She never actually wanted much of a family, but now that she does she has incorporated the "good mother" message into herself as a goal, despite the fact that she is actually an absentee barely passable mother who focuses more on her career than her family.
After her break-up, Ingrid started diving even deeper into her work, bent on proving she could provide her children with a good middle class lifestyle on her paycheck alone and never needed her husband. She tells herself this is because she loves her children, but in reality she only sees most of them as a source of stress and doesn't know how to contribute anything but her paycheck.
4 years ago, when she found out her daughter Charity was sexually experimenting with her younger siblings, she completely freaked out with images of her starting up a bunch of family orgies, not knowing (because she never really sexually experimented with other children herself,) that this was somewhat normal. Due also to her prior experience with failing birth control, she has subconsciously come to the opinion that birth control does not work and thus is even more afraid of her daughters ruining their lives by getting pregnant while still in highschool.
Relationships (start of story)
none
Notes: Xander is the son that Inga has somewhat forgotten about since he does not cause much trouble but also does not contribute much. His lack of involvement in the incident with Charity 4 years ago has caused her to trust him more than most of the rest of his siblings. She has tried to get him to take up for Brittany's role a little since she left for college, and her trust for him is the only reason why she was Ok with that in the first place, but has not seen him taking quite as active of a role as she would like and doubts his ability to be effective at it in the first place considering he seems to submit to his twin sister a little. Still, she figures that if he catches Charity molesting her younger siblings again then at the very least he might bring the news to her.
Notes: Inga sees her oldest daughter Brittany as her life-line since she effectively took up the roll of surrogate mother for her younger siblings. She knows family life would have been a lot worse if Brittany had not stepped up to the plate, and is grateful to her for it.
Notes: Views Charity as the one who ruined her younger siblings. Inga strongly suspects that Charity has started molesting Roni again since Brittany moved out, but since she is not in the home much she cannot prove this and also figures this might just be a baseless fear. If she is though, she figures it is better Brittany be the one to molest her than some strange guy at the park.
Notes: Inga sees Bastian as nothing more than a trouble maker. She cannot understand the way his mind works, and laments that he is so much more rambunctious than Xander was at his age.
Notes: Has heard of no residual problems from Brittany about Angel's behavior in the 4 years since she was molested by Charity, and thus views her in a fairly similar manner to how she views Xander. However, since Angel is one of the younger children, there is no way she can help watch the others. Thus, Angel is merely in Inga's "don't need to worry about," and "good daughter" categories.
Notes: Inga is unaware that Roni had an aversion to underwear even before Charity started molesting her, and attributes this behavior to something that came out of that incident. Inga constantly fears that Roni is going to get molested by some pervert on the street as a result of this. As such, in addition to constantly riding on Roni to wear her panties and on Charity and Xander to make sure she is wearing panties, she also has Charity always accompany Roni when she leaves the house. She doesn't feel comfortable with Charity watching her either, but figures at least that Charity won't molest her in public and that she should take some responsibility for making her younger sister this way.
Notes: In some part of her mind, Inga suspects that Richard may have tampered with her birth control. She blames him for getting her pregnant and creating this hectic home life for her that distracts from her career, but since she figures he wanted these children he fathered on her she refuses as much as possible to give him access to them out of spite. Keeps up a simbilance of good relations with him though because she knows the courts will not like it if they think she is poisoning her children against him.
Notes: Inga views Shauna as the skank who her husband cheated on her with. Most of her hatred for Shauna though comes from the fact that Rich has only fathered 2 children on her and she seems to be doing nothing in the way of pursuing a career.
Notes: Has not really interacted with Rahne, but harbors some slight animosity toward her since she is the child of her ex-husband's mistress and was born while she was still married to him.
Notes: Inga has only heard Kizzie's name mentioned on occasion by her own children when they come back from visiting their father. She does not think much of Kizzie.
