Life Hacks/Talk to your mom and try to make it so you can make Billie your foster “brother”
No, you decide not to do it with Loki, but you’re still going to get it done, the good old fashioned way. “Hold on,” you say to Billy, still walking as you pull out your phone. “I’m going to have to make a phone call to make sure we can do this.”
With that, you look through your speed dials and hit the one for your mom. You hold the phone up to your ear and listen to it ring. And it rings. And it keeps ringing, until finally it picks up.
“Xander?” She says, you called her on her cellphone, and it gives a unique ring-tone if it is one of you. “What’s going on?” She has told you only to call for an emergency, and since it is you she probably trusts there is something quite serious. That’s good, because this is an emergency in a way.
“Mom, well, it’s a bit complicated.” You say, “I have to ask you for something, and this is probably the single biggest favor I could ever possibly ask you in my life.” You hear a heavy silence coming from the other end, and then finally.
“What happened?” She asks in a clearly worried tone.
“Well… let’s see…” you think of how to say this. You remember, she thinks this is an emergency situation, so you if you choose the correct parts to explain first then she will probably be more likely to keep listening to you longer before you ask the big favor. “Ok, well… first off, I’m fine and Roni’s fine. I took Roni to the park today for her baseball instead of Charity, but there was an incident at the park.” Another heavy silence, waiting for you to continue. “A guy tried to attack me physically over something about Roni not being allowed to play because she was a girl. He didn’t hurt me, I’m fine, I just pinned him and called the police. But, the thing is…” You stop, you realize what her reaction is probably going to be if you give her your request before hand. “Well, I’m not in trouble or anything, I’m actually trying to help out someone else, a third person who was also there, but I need you at the police station in order for this to work.”
“Oh my god! Xander! Why!? What’s going on?”
“I can’t tell you right now, just please come.” You say.
-sigh- “Ok,” she says. “I’ll get someone to cover for me, this sounds pretty serious,” she says. “I don’t know what’s going on, but you had better have a really good explanation when I get there. I ought to be there in about 30 minutes. Is Roni with you?”
“No, I brought her home,” you tell her.
“Ok, good.” She says. “Just… be on your best behavior till I get there, don’t cause any trouble.” She says, and then promptly hangs up the phone.
Well, that went well. She will probably be mad when she gets to the station and finds out what your real intentions are, but getting her peeled away from work is the hardest part. There would be no way you could convince her to agree to this if you told her about it while she was still at work, but once she is away from work and you meet with her face to face you might actually stand a chance. Now, the only question is exactly what your method to convince her should be.
