Life Hacks/Notes on Bastian's personality
Bastian is your typical pre-teen boy acting out for attention. He is not consciously aware of why he keeps doing things to get himself in trouble, but subconsciously it has become a habit for him. He will regularly irritate his siblings just to get them to yell at him and give him the attention that he wants. Normally the way it goes is that he will try to get some positive attention from one of his older siblings, trying to talk to them about some innane thing. If they do not give him the attention he craves, he will get bored and start fiddling or playing with things that will get Xander involved either by messing with his stuff or upsetting one of his younger siblings and thus getting Xander involved by proxy, or he might simply pester Charity for a little too long and get her yelling at him. Charity is the only person in the family he annoys intentionally, he thinks its fun, but he does not mean to piss off the other family members but it seems to always happen anyway.
Relationships (start of story)
Beings Xander is the most significant and present older male figure in his life, Bastian looks up to his older brother a lot and wishes he had a better relationship with him. He is constantly trying to get positive attention from Xander, and he feels pretty bad when Xander winds up yelling at him. As such, he has actually been trying to make an effort not to mess with his younger sisters as much so that he does not create problems for Xander.
He is so hungry for Xander's attention that he often tries to find anything and everything to act as an excuse to talk to him, including snitching on his sisters to him or otherwise just telling him anything he or someone else does that seems like it might be interesting.
Bastian sees his mother as nothing but a diciplinarian. He has no real relationship with her other than being yelled at by her, and he would sooner avoid her at all costs except where he is compelled to such as at the dinner table. His heart rejoices every time his mother stays late and misses dinner, that way he may be able to avoid her entirely so long as nothing gets back to her about him misbehaving so bad she calls him out of his room.
He is typically meek and quiet around his mother, hoping to not draw her attention. Lately though, he has become a bit rebellious, so when she does yell at him he sometimes tries to yell back.
Beings she took over as their mother's extension soon after he and his sisters were caught in their sexual play, he always operated under the false assumption she was mad at him. While he will cow to her orders, he resents it when she yells at him, very unlike the reaction he has to Xander.
Recently, since Xander took over the discipline role and Brittany has been off to college, he has begun to consciously understand that she was actually protecting them from their mother's wrath more than anything. He still feels uncomfortable and small around her, but he has started to open up to her more and has also started to become more obedient of her.
Bastian actually has a bit of a strange relationship with Brittany that is tied up in her previous sexual touching of him 4 years ago. He still has distinct memories of those events, being the oldest involved aside from Charity, and now that he is creeping toward puberty enough that his hormones are starting to kick in he has begun to think about that stuff again and has begun thinking about her in a sexual way. Because he wants her to do the same sort of things she did before, and that stuff involved her basically having her way with his genitals while holding him and showing him off, this has given him a bit of a submissive stance toward sex.
Bastian does not actually want Charity doing this stuff to him, he fears that this may actually make Xander hate him if he gets caught doing those sort of things again. However, as a result of his conflicting and confused hormone driven emotions toward his older sister he often winds up pestering her and causing her trouble. On a deep subconscious level, having Charity yell at him and even man-handle him actually satisfies part of his submissive sexual itch.
