So, is there any special thing or ritual a Bunnykin is supposed to do in order to bond with a mate? Also, is it a completely conscious decision or is it half instinct? If it's the latter, I think she just bonded with him this scene from seeing how he handles Emily. Jemini (talk) 01:25, 14 April 2020 (CEST)
It's an unconscious instinctual thing. Neither realize it's happening until she touches him skin to skin and they bond. Both must have an attraction for each other and she must love him. The contract can be as simple as holding hands, but must be intimate in nature and she initiates it. If there is skin to skin contact with other, related Bunnykin and the male, at the time of bonding, then she could be pulled into the bond as well.
Once bonded, he becomes extremely protective of her and all her young, until they reach the age of majority. The females become slave like in their devotion to the male and exclusive to him. They are actually sexualy turned off or repulsed by the presence of other males.
Also there sex and reproductive drive reduces significantly to just above that of a normal human female, the lowered sex drive and exclusivity is known only by bonded pairs and kept a closely guarded secret. Bad men already try to force or trick a bond, they don't need more ammo to do so.
Also in Bunnykin culture the bond is considered to be above marriage, though no exclusivity is expected on the male side. They actually encourage males to form harems, especially Bunnykin girl harems. --Telgar (talk) 02:23, 14 April 2020 (CEST)
