Figured I'd ask, is the story going to use the Latin meaning of Inccubis, or the modern definition?

The modern definition, is that Inccubi are male... Latin is a bit different

In + Cubāre (above + to lie) incubate

Sub + Cubāre (beneath + to lie)

Con + Cubāre (alongside + to lie + "gender") Concubino/a

Basically, if we use the Latin sense, an Inccubis will always be dominant, while a Succubus would always be submissive; regardless of their perceived gender/sex.

Well, I'm not planning on having Will be submissive, if that's what your concerned about after reading that "weak willed boy" line. (The whole Incubus soul thing will have replaced that part of his personality. It's just that the weak will made him easier to have his soul over-written.) Not sure about any of that Latin meaning stuff, but an Incubus doesn't really strike me as a door-mat type character.Jemini (talk) 01:15, 16 November 2022 (CET)

It's what I figured, it's just that it kind of pisses me off that a "dominant female demon" is commonly referred to as a succubus, or a "submissive demon" as you will.

The Latin bit was to show that an Inccubi/Succubi isn't really a gendered thing and more of a personality trait.

I hadn't read any further into the story, but I thought about what if MC starts out as a somewhat submissive individual and as time goes on, he becomes more dominant (his old self fades away.)

But after reading a bit on, I saw that his personality was fully overwritten. --MrPib (talk) 04:14, 16 November 2022 (CET)
