Life Hacks/Notes on Brittany's personality
Ever since their parents got divorced when she was 11, Brittany has been something of a surrogate mother to her younger siblings. Of course, as an 11 year old, she wasn't exactly fit for the role but she eventually managed to grow into it. When she caught Charity sexually experimenting with her younger siblings, she immediately told their mother and then immediately regretted doing so, although she never expressed this outwardly. Brittany by that age at 15 was socially conscious enough to know that kind of thing was perfectly natural at Charity's age at that time. Not something that should be encouraged, in fact she was certainly of the opinion it should be discouraged, but their mom completely overreacted big time and Brittany really wishes she had just handled it on her own (like she does most everything else with the family.)
After that, Brittany redoubled her efforts toward taking care of the family playing the role of surrogate mother for the next 3 years until she graduated highschool, wanting to keep their mother off of her sibling's backs as much as possible. She moved off to college and lived on campus figuring her siblings had grown up enough and their mother was just out of the house enough that they could handle themselves, but still comes back frequently to see that things are still running smoothly.
Relationships (start of story)
Brittany really cares about her nerdy brother Xander, seeing him as someone who needs to be protected and cared for from his hell-raiser of a twin sister. She does not really understand him and the things he is into, but she knows he is into a lot of computer stuff and that is how her dad made his living and believes he is going to be every bit as successful as their father. She just wishes he was better socially so he wouldn't be picked on all the time.
Brittany sees her mother as a complete failure as a parent, and that is the reason why she is stuck taking up the slack for her. She does not say this outwardly, but she views her father as a far superior parent. For the sake of maintaining her position as surrogate mother to her siblings and to keep her failure of a mother from interfering too much, Brittany puts on an act of being rather friendly and helpful toward her mother. In reality though, all her smiles and cheering her mother on are because she has identified that if her mother is happy with how things seem to be going at home then she spends more time at work, thus getting her out of everyone's hair.
On the subject of Charity, Brittany is at a loss for what to do. On the one hand, she considers Charity to be someone who her mother treats extremely unfairly. At the same time though, she knows that her younger sister has an extremely bad attitude that is in desperate need of adjustment, especially where it comes to her behavior toward her twin brother. Brittany does not share the same fear her mother has for Charity molesting their younger siblings, but does get on her anyway because her doing it again and their mother finding out about it would invite their mother's wrath.
Brittany finds her rambunctious younger brother's boyishness endearing. To her, this is how a little boy ought to be and she thinks Xander ought to actually learn a thing or two from this kid, although age appropriateness does cause a little bit of an issue for that notion. As usual though, she realizes a lot of his behaviors are things that should not be encouraged, and she is constantly getting on his case. However, after a good scolding and a fitting punishment, she always tries to do something to make it up to him to ensure their family bond.
Brittany has a fun time babying her little sister. She is pleased to see that she is not picking up Charity's "mean girl" ways, but at the same time seems to be appropriately girly. She thinks this is around the age where she should start getting fashion conscious as well, but has seen no signs of that coming up. In the mean time though, she still likes playing dolls with the kid when she gets the chance to.
Brittany does not quite get the whole tom-boy thing that Roni has going, and she is especially driven crazy by Roni's insistence upon wearing skirts with nothing on underneath. She does not share her mother's fears she is going to get molested, but it is still most certainly socially inappropriate and something that needs to somehow be stopped. So long as she can avoid Roni flashing the entire neighborhood her naked beaver though, Brittany actually finds Roni incredibly easy to manage. She tells herself she can't understand the kid, but in reality she probably knows what makes her youngest full sister tick better than she understands any other member of her family
While she does consider her father to be the better parent from all practical measures, Brittany lost a fair amount of respect for her father when she discovered that he had been cheating on her mother since before the divorce, and with someone who was 15 at the time at that. During visits in the past before she turned 18, she would be rather avoidant of her father. Now, she just has nothing to do with him all together.
Brittany has seen Shauna's smarter side, and has therefore attributed the worst possible motives to her way of doing things. She sees Shauna as a very intentional gold digger who worked her way into her father's life and who is still manipulating her father to this day. That said, due to her animosity toward her father, she is not really certain she cares about that much.
Brittany managed to make something of a connection with Rahne during their visits to her father's house. The little girl was remarkably fashion conscious for her young age, and the two of them had a lot to connect about. Despite how much she likes the kid though, Brittany can very much see Rahne becoming a total slut who will probably get pregnant in high school like her mother.
Kizzie was just an infant the last time she saw her a year ago, but she was totally enthralled by her entirely because she was just a baby. In her memory, Kizzie is still just an infant, but she enjoys occasionally hearing about how she is growing up from her other siblings.
Brittany has seen March over at the house often enough to just about consider him one of the family, and respects the close bond he seems to have with her brother Xander. She has sort of figured out what it is they do up in her brother's room all day, and she tries to make sure that information does not get out to the point of often running interference to prevent any of the other family members from entering her brother's room while March is around. Brittany also has some fantasies that they are doing more than just boyish experimentation and have something of a homosexual relationship going. She can't be sure how much of that is based on something real she is picking up on or if it is something she just secretly wants to be the case for some perverse reason, but either way she would be completely Ok with this and will often treat March in an effusively friendly and welcoming manner when he comes over.
