58 and a Half Hours/September 17, 2016
Yuu looked at the time just after the tenth episode of Oreimo started.
“Crap, it's just after midnight! Do you need to get home, Megumi?” “Nah, I'd like to finish out the first season with you guys,” Megumi said, then continuing. “Especially episode eleven, where Kirino, Kuroneko, and Saori make a little surprise for him.”
“Won't your parents get worried about you?” Faye asked. “They probably haven't even noticed I'm gone yet, really,” Megumi answered. “I could head back tomorrow morning and get nothing more than, 'oh, I didn't realize you were out all night' from them.”
“Is everything alright at home?” Yuu asked. “It's just how it's always been, it's not a big deal,” Megumi answered. “If you're sure...” Yuu said as if he didn't really believe it.
A moment later the garage door opened and closed, announcing Natsu's return home. “I'm back, everyone...” she announced, before noticing Megumi in the room. “Oh, hello there!” she said, slightly surprised.
“Mom, this is Megumi Omata,” Yuu said, introducing them. “She's decided to join us.”
“You mean she's...?” Megumi asked, surprised. Natsu blushed hard. “Well...” she tried.
Megumi rushed over and shook her hand. “That's so hot! It's great to meet you!” she exclaimed, beaming. Somehow this did not relieve Natsu's embarrassment. “Are your parents fine with you being out so late?” Natsu asked. “Meh, they don't care,” Megumi answered, finally letting go of Natsu's hand.
“If you say so...” Natsu said skeptically. “Well, I'm going to head to bed. Don't stay up too late, guys.”
As episode 15 ended, Yuu looked at the girls on the couch with him. Minako and Faye were already asleep, and Megumi was clearly struggling to stay up. “Thanks for showing me that, I enjoyed it,” Yuu said. “Let me help you to a bed.”
With that, Yuu helped Megumi stand and led her to his room. “I'll be back in a moment,” Yuu said, after he got Megumi to lie down. When he returned from helping Minako and Faye to their rooms, Megumi was already completely asleep. Yuu briefly considered sleeping on the floor, since Megumi hadn't explicitly said she wanted to sleep with him, but ended up climbing in next to her when he considered that he didn't have anything to put under him to make it possible to sleep down there. It didn't end up mattering much anyway, as he was asleep the moment he laid down.
Yuu was following Megumi's directions to drive her home. After they had woken up late in the morning, Natsu had made them breakfast before Megumi asked for a ride home. It was a couple of neighborhoods away, a slightly older neighborhood filled with 40 year old homes.
“So I'll see you Monday then?” Yuu asked happily. “Yeah, I'll see you then!” Megumi said, as she gave Yuu a peck on the cheek and walked off toward the front door. After she was inside, and Yuu was about to drive off, he felt his phone vibrate. When he looked, there was a text message from Cupcake there.
“Congratulations, man! And with such a fine young thing, too; I'm impressed!”
Yuu quickly responded. “I hope you weren't watching us through my window or something.”
“I'll leave that up for you to wonder. But you did what I told you, so you couldn't have failed.”
“Please don't stalk me.”
“Will you look at this guy? We make a good team though. Get some rest, you deserve it. We'll pick it up again Monday at school. And don't forget, Monday's your aunt's birthday.”
