A Loli's ENF Adventure/Mermaid
Mermaid is a name typically applied to female beings that posses the upper half of a human and the lower half of a fish, but over time has become a catch all term for females of any sort of aquatic wild race, with Merfolk used to refer to both males and females. Because most settlements lie next to or near waterways and bodies of water Merfolk have the highest level of interaction with civilized races among their other wild brethren and enjoy mostly positive relations with them.
Also noteworthy is that despite their aquatic nature all Merfolk are capable of breathing air and can survive on land for long periods of time thanks to a sweat-like secretion that prevents them from drying out.
To give an example how different Merfolk can be, here are a few young mermaids who're in for a rough time:
- Nell, a classic half-fish style mermaid who live near a busy offshore fishing route and plays with the fishes most days
- Seleia, a mermaid with an eel-like lower half living in a mangrove swamp by a small town who wants to know the townsfolk better
- Aquin, a humanoid mermaid with two flippers for feet and covered in soft scales hiding in a city drainage system who collect lost trinkets
So will one of these mer-children be the focus, or perhaps another subspecies?
