Sally may have felt a strange thrill at doing something so naughty, but that was rapidly fading. Now she just felt embarrassed and vaguely guilty.

"I'll be fine, you go back to your friends.", she said.

"Arright", Sam said as he turned to go. He had some mixed feelings about what just happened too. He hoped talking to her might make it better, but he couldn't blame her if she needed space.

"Hey, uhh, don't tell anyone about that, OK?", she called after him.

It was the furthest thing from is his mind, at the moment at least. "Oh sure, won't say a word." He did the zipped lip gesture and hurried off.

Sally felt a little better with the attention off her, but in a way she was back where she started. For sure boys' underpants was an improvement over bare privates, but she didn't want to be seen like that if she could help it, so walking on Main Street was still out of the question. But she was also getting concerned about how long she'd been gone. Her parents were probably really worried. She decided she'd have to compromise and find a way to get back relatively fast, even if it meant she couldn't stay completely out of sight.

She thought of another possible route. If she remembered right, there was a really big parking lot nearby, where they sometimes held swap meets and things. As long as nothing like that was going on today, she could skirt the edges and then get to a side street without drawing too much attention. The park was surrounded by trees on three sides, but they weren't that dense or anything, and she set off in what she thought was the right direction, through the trees she'd used in her ill-fated stealth mission.

It wasn't more than a minute or two before she found it. It wasn't deserted, but all the activity centered around a small shopping center in the far corner, near Main St. No one had any reason to park way out on her side, so she hurried along the edge as she planned, until she she reached, just as she hoped, a much quieter street. The sign said Finch Ln., not anything she recognized, but she knew her house was the opposite way from Main St. so this first choice was easy at least.

She started to feel kind of good about this. She did like exploring. Being back on a real sidewalk made her feel more exposed, but there was no one in sight for now. On the far side of the street was some kind of rail yard, she thought they fixed trains there, but not on Saturday apparently, and on her side, not much of anything. She hurried along, hoping to make up for time lost in the park.

It wasn't long before she found herself back in a residential neighborhood, a good sign, but she also knew she'd start running into more people. She checked her appearance. She was barefoot, not so weird for kids in her town. Her shirt was a little dirty, and she found a small tear in the shoulder, probably from when she'd pulled it out of the bushes. But that didn't matter now. Her "shorts" though... That weird little flap boys' underwear had kept flipping up, no matter how she tried to smooth it. It was double-layered so it didn't really expose anything, but it certainly broke any illusion these could be normal shorts.

But properly dressed or not, she still had to get home, and she picked up the pace again. The first sign of activity she saw as a mail truck, parked at an intersection. And she quickly noticed the mailman was there too, unloading mail from the back. Hey wait, that was her mailman, Randy!

How did she react to this?
