NOTE: This is expiramenting with a new concept, and so all the content of this page should be regarded as nothing more than notes as the concept is being played around with. Feel free to comment in the discussion section if you can see possible improvements to the system or just think this entire idea should be scrapped.

I am not 100% certain this game needs to be any more complicated myself, I think it's already too much, but I would rather throw everything against the wall and then thin out the ideas than scrap an idea before every allowing it to be explored.

Overview

Details on denial

Denial represents the child denying that something happened or trying to make up an excuse for why something happened because they can't deal with the reality, and is closely linked to trauma. In fact, denial is one of the ways in which trauma can present, but it will only present this way under very specific circumstances.

Effects of denial

Stand-in for Naivete

A child in denial can deny or intentionally disbelieve an attribute of sex knowledge. While they will possess this piece of sexual knowledge, they will intentionally act as though they don't possess it due to the trauma this would cause in their mind.

  • Sex knowledge the child can be in denial about
  • Knows babies are made through "sex," an activity "mommies" and "daddies" do. (can be acquired first by itself, or automatically upon learning that semen makes babies. Knowing the mechanics of sex is not required.)
  • Knows semen makes babies (Does not need to know this in order to know that sex makes babies)
  • Knows the full biology of sex (Must know the concept of sex in order to learn this properly)
  • Knows about the emotional complications of sex (Must have social naivete below 15 to get this one)
  • Special case
  • Knows the physical mechanics of sex (the penis goes inside the vagina.) Being in denial over this piece of sex knowledge means that they refuse to believe that the penis going into the vagina is this "sex" concept they know about.
  • Knows about semen (That it exists and comes out of a boy's penis) Being in denial over this piece of sex knowledge applies only to seeing semen leaking from their/your vagina. They will disbelieve that what they are seeing is really semen, and think it is something that came out of "the girl" (whether it is them or you) for some reason.
  • Sex knowledge not affected by denial
  • Knows the concept/frame-work for the idea of "sex"
  • Knows what the opposite gender's genitals look like
  • Knows about the female vagina (entirely possible for girls to not know about it)
  • Has discovered masturbation
