Take Diya to her house

← Back

"Uhh... Ok, I guess I can do that." You agree, feeling inexplicably nervous as you take the 12-year-old girl's hand. The 7th grader seems equally hesitant as she accepts it and the two of you walk out of the building like that. Most of the kids have already gone home. Like most school staff, you have to stay a while after all the kids get out, but you still manage to get off a fair amount earlier than most of the other staff. As such, there is almost nobody out at this time.

You reach the car and open the passenger side door for Diya before getting in yourself. You feel a little nervous to ask as you start the ignition, but you are going to have to know so you know where to take her. "Uhh... you live at the brothel, right?"

"Uh-huh..." She responds, looking down and her face going a very deep shade of crimson after this.

"Uhh... Ok," is all you can say in response as you start up the car. The trip to the fabled house of sin that Diya calls her home is mostly silent. While you don't give much for the town's opinions, you still find yourself somehow uneasy driving to the place. It very well could have been Diya's nervousness rubbing off on you though, the girl didn't say a word the entire trip, and with the occasional glance out the corner of your eye you could see she seemed fairly interested in the floor, it was not at all the manner of a kid her age. Even last week when you took her to your sister's house in the pajamas you made her wear for punishment she was more lively than this.

After that long, tense, and silent car-ride, you finally arrive at your destination. The brothel in question is an old and fairly large Victorian-style white 3 story house. Back when it was built, it might have been considered some kinda mansion. Due to how old it was though, it's property value must have sunk quite a bit, allowing the matron of the establishment to get a place large enough to run the business at a reasonable price. The parking lot was a gravel area out in front, partially overgrown with grass. Most of the town's factory workers would still be at work right now, so there were very few patrons filling up the parking area. It was quite easy for you to find a spot.

"Come on in," Diya says from the passenger seat as she gets out of the car. As she leads you to the house, it seems she has if anything become even tenser. She turns her back to you the second you get out of the car, and halfway to the door she suddenly makes a mad dash. She comes to a stop at the top of the stairs, standing still as a statue as she watches your approach, and then seeming to swallow hard as you reach the bottom step.

"What's going on with you?" You ask her. This behavior is certainly strange.

"Umm.." is the only response you get as she grabs the door and opens it. "Come in..." she repeats what she said in the car before slipping inside like a mouse into its hole.

You are perplexed by this, but you follow on into the enthusiastic voice of a middle age woman greeting the 7th grader. "Oh hi, Diya!" The woman says, and as you reach the entrance her eyes are on you already to see who it is Diya had invited in behind her. "Is this the guy you told us about?" The woman asks, receiving a silent nod in response. "So you're John." She says with a bit of a chuckle as she approaches you. "Diya, do you think you could run up to your room for a moment? I'll send John up after I've had a quick talk with him."

Diya stands unmoving with a concerned look on her face at these words. You weren't sure what to make of this whole situation at first, but a few of the pieces are slowly beginning to click together. "Is there a reason why she has to leave?" You ask the older woman who seems to be carrying herself as though she might be the "madam" of this place.

"Well," she responds in a husky voice, gently wrapping her arm around your shoulder in a somewhat flirtatious way, "I just wanted to introduce you to some of the girls, they wanted to meet you and I didn't want Diya to get in the way too much."
