Well if the preceding creature made it through you should be able to as well. You're not that big after all! You stoop down onto your knees, realising the gap is slightly smaller than you had expected. You lower yourself even further until your practically face down on the ground; the cold, dirty uneven ground. As you are about to begin pulling yourself through a thought occurs to you. 'Maybe if it was just rats? They would easily get through this gap!' You don't want to risk this for nothing! But what if it was something more? What if there really is someone back there? If that's the case you can't just leave them!
It's a tough call. One the one hand, this could all be nothing. This building is getting more unstable by the minute, and your presence here isn't helping! On the other hand, if you do turn back you could be leaving someone here, another person; the first one you've come across in a week! If the building comes down behind you they will still be caught underneath it.
So what do you do?
