Craig's Story: Craig is the son of the heroine Gambler, one of the last supers to die in the invasion. Gambler was a probability manipulator who turned hopeless battles into narrow victories. She had come out of retirement to fight the invasion. Craig's father, John King, only had a recessive S-Factor. John did not take his wife's death well. He had always been strict with his family and slipped into abusive alcoholism. Craig often made himself the target of the abuse. Mostly to protect his two sisters. On Craig's powers manifested on his 13th birthday. Craig did not expect a large party but had invited a few friends over after school. However, at lunch there was a freak Salmonella outbreak. Craig was late due to unforeseen circumstances and did not get one of the contaminated pudding cups. Craig's sisters had planned a surprise and were on their way home with a cake and a couple of presents when they were caught in a 13 car pile-up. There were no injuries. Craig ended up alone with his father and his father's drinking buddies. Investigators later determined that there was a gas leak in the garage where the men were drinking and playing poker. This was ignited by a meteor that struck the house. The explosion started a fire that killed everyone in the garage. Craig was in his basement room at the time and was not affected in any way. The fire was put out when a water main burst due to a freak overpressure condition. Water sprayed on the fire until an automatic shutoff triggered. Water damage was minimal. The meteor was recovered and valued at exactly the amount needed to pay for funerals and repairs to the house and car. Craig and his younger sister were placed under the guardianship of their elder sister.
Craig's Power: Craig is a powerful probability manipulator. He does not have conscious control over his powers. The manifestation is constant and seems to extend in a 14-mile radius. This radius was measured at 13 miles prior to Craig's 14th birthday. Within the radius of Craig's power accidental death and injury have almost completely stopped. The exception seems to be anyone who harms Craig or those he cares about. Those people tend to die in freak accidents regardless of if Craig even knew about the harm. The exact mechanism of Craig's power is uncertain since tests always give random results. Craig and those he cares about live a blessed life. Everyone else within the range of his power live interesting lives. Games of chance are impossible to play properly within the range of Craig's power and coincidence is a guarantee.

Alex's Story: Alex is Craig's elder sister. She is a probability manipulator with the power to enhance or reverse entropy. She can un-stir a drink, rust a door off its hinges, separate all the nitrogen and oxygen in a room, and heat or chill almost anything. Her powers do not extend to enhancing or reversing biological possesses. While powerful, her ability is not fast. Un-stirring a drink without agitation may take 10 minutes, with agitation it's almost instant. As such Alex is not intending to work as a hero, instead she is looking at possible industrial applications of her power.
Alex is the current legal guardian of Craig and their younger sister Ashley. Alex has mixed feelings about Craig. She remembers when their father was better, and knows Craig's powers killed him. On the other hand she knows that Craig had no control over the events of that day. She's generally supportive but is often frustrated by Craig's power.
