Generations/Practice Sorcery
As a dragon, you have plenty of time to find a mate, especially now that you have a constant supply of food established. With that in mind, you think of something that could make your search much easier. That being shapeshifting, which makes you come up with a method to make this possible: sorcery.
With that in mind, you get to work honing your innate magical power. Being a creature of innate magic, it comes to you much easier than any man. Dragons are often the most common source of sorcerous bloodlines after all, so this is an additional benefit to choosing this host.
On your own, this will take a bit of time, and as you are still not used to draconic perception of time, you may want to lessen that by taking up lessons with a teacher or finding reading material on the subject.
