“So…. what exactly does a vassal do?” You ask them, “what will it mean for what I will be doing if I become her vassal?”

“You can be Lady Eostra’s most important servant!” The daughter chirps up, smiling brightly and practically dancing as though that by itself should be the thing no one would want to turn down. “You will be the most important and able to serve her more than any of us!”

“Hey, I’m supposed to be the one telling him this stuff!” The mother growls in a tone that is more appropriate to have come from an older sister than a parent. “Well, I don’t know a whole lot about god powers and stuff, but vassals are something pretty big. They give you part of their power to make your god powers stronger, and then you become a high ranking servant for them and do the things they need to have done. They’re like… umm… Oh! Right! The nameless god had a whole lot of vassals that go around on earth you might have heard about. Hey, what are they called?” This last question from her was directed at the daughter.

“Angels!” The daughter says with a goofy smile.

“Yeah,” the mother continues, “it’s like the nameless god’s angels. Vassals do work like them for the god that they serve, and they get power in order to do their job.”

Well, that gives you a bit more information, but these two seem to be giving a less than satisfactory explanation on all this. You are starting to get something of a picture on the situation, but you really can’t help the feeling that something is missing from the explanation, and you get the impression that no amount of questioning these two will clear that up.
