It Must be True

This is a story inspired by an old TV series I saw as a kid. It was one of those scary short-stories for kids series, kinda like "Goosebumps" and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" It wasn't either of those though, and I can't remember what it was. This is too bad, because I REALLY wanted to link to the specific episode of this series to give readers an idea of what the inspiration here was.

I try to sum it up the best I can in the opening couple of paragraphs. A kid who is a compulsive liar is cursed by his teacher to make it so everything he says comes true. This leads to him having a little bit of a hair-raising incident when he gets home and it supposedly corrects his lying ways. Then, years and decades later, the episode ends on a final scene of the kid having grown up to now be a teacher who is passing on the same curse to one of his own students. Except, instead of just saddling him with the curse, he tells the kid the full story of his own experience first before cursing him.

The idea of this story is it picks up following the newly cursed kid right where the episode left off. Properly warned, he plans to take advantage of this curse.
