Life Hacks/Xandergod(Rosemance)/Learn about using Life Controller
"Well," you say, "I'd really like to know what I'm doing with Life Controller so I don't screw things up like you mentioned before."
"Wise plan," says Loki, "but that's a pretty tall order. Where to start? I assume you already have a pretty good handle on the Lifie Module?"
"Yeah, I think I've got that one."
"Okay the Condition Module first then. The Condition Mod lets you adjust conditions and status effects of the game. These are things like Condition Values, like your Health, Energy, Focus, Stress, and arousal; cyclic systems like menstrual phase, circadian rhythm, and the like; and ongoing physical, mental, emotional, or mystical conditions like illnesses, pregnancy, neurological conditions, psychological conditions, mystical curses and the like. Hell, with it you can even bring back recently dead lifies. There's really nothing about it that you can mess up that you couldn't fix though. Unless you want to experiment on yourself, I suggest we move on."
"Sounds like a plan," you reply, not liking the idea of screwing yourself up by experimenting.
"Okay, so the World Module. Most of the features of world module are locked out by the server settings. These are just larger scale versions of the Local Settings options though. I'm pretty sure you have Time Dilation from the Quick Settings down, so I'll move on to the Buy Modes, then Local Settings, if that's okay with you."
"Actually the buy modes are pretty self-explanatory, maybe skip right to the World destroying stuff."
"Anxious to destroy your first world are you?"
"What! No! I just-"
"Calm down, it was a joke. Okay, Local Settings. The first thing to know is that the boundary between the local area and the outside world is memory managed. That means that anyone crossing from one to the other will believe that everything has always been the way it is on whichever side of the boundary they are on. Adjust Local Conditions is the big one for killing off entire populations. This lets you adjust everything about the local environment. You can adjust the gravity, climate, atmosphere, water, earth composition, weather, everything. Be really careful using it. Just as a test, pull it up and make a little rainstorm . . . or actually, you probably don't need to pull it up. Go ahead, show me what you got."
You concentrate for a bit, and clouds begin to fill the previously cloudless sky, then it starts to gently rain.
"Good. You can do the same thing with magic or superpowers . . . or if you're very clever even psionics; but the World Mod doesn't tire you out or use resources like the other do." Loki fiddles with his UI a bit and the sky clears. "Okay, then there is Adjust Local Society. That's were you can change the Political, Economic, and Cultural setting for the area. You can change cultural taboos, forms of government, economic systems, basically anything that relates to how people handle themselves and one another. We can't really test that one out either. Then there is Magic, Psionics, and Super Powers. The settings let you determine the level of power for each, and the percentage of the population that has the abilities. Got it?"
"Yeah, I think I'll have to play with that a bit to test it out."
"Okay, that brings us to the Population Mod this allows you to adjust the local population, both sentient and animal. It allows you to adjust the population density and composition. If you adjust the density higher it will make random new lifies to pad the numbers. If you make it lower people will disappear . . . so be careful with that. People taken away are the first ones returned if you later increase the density again, so there is that. If you want any unusual races: elves, fairies, aliens, demons, dragons, what-have-you this is the mod to do it with. I don't think we can really test this one either . . . sorry about that."
"No problem, at least I know more about it."
"That just leaves the Statistic Mod. Basically you can get information on anything the game keeps track of, which can be a big pain in the ass. But since Sam's mod gives you a neural interface connection to all your mods, it probably is really simple for you to use. And . . . that's Life Controller." He pauses for a second. "Hold up a second. Did Sam give you all of the game rewards?"
"I don't know . . . maybe?"
"You'd better check. Some of them don't play very well with each other without tweaking the settings."
You frown for a moment, then concentrate on the rewards you may or may not have. They spring instantly to mind. "Yeah, I think I have them all."
"Really, you already checked? Where's your UI? Don't tell me Sam figured out a way to load the information right into your brain with that hack of hers?"
"Um, I guess so," you say, a little preoccupied with the conflicts that you are finding. "You weren't kidding, some of these social rewards would have everyone acting crazy around me. Let me just tweak the settings. Let's see set Everybody's Friend to 100%. I don't want everyone hating me so turn off Hated by Everyone. Why would anyone want that?"
Loki shrugs. "Different people play their game in different ways."
"Okay, set One Big Family to 100%. Turning off Everybody's Bitch . . . and Infamous . . . and Casanova, I'll decide who loves me thank you very much. Turning Highly Trusted and Highly Respected to 100%. I think that . . . yeah, that should do it. That could have been a mess, thanks."
"No problem," says Loki, "What would you like to learn next?"
