Life Hacks/Before anything else, calm Angel down by explaining periods to her
“Angel, don’t be scared, Ok? This is nothing to worry about.” You tell your little sister in a calm voice that seems to actually get a slight glare from her. “No, it’s really fine,” you tell her, “there’s not anything damaged inside you, actually, your body’s doing what it’s supposed to do.”
“Huh? How is my body supposed to be bleeding from my privates?” She responds. Although she is confused, you can see she actually DOES trust you enough that she seems to believe you despite the question. She is significantly less tense, this just doesn’t make sense to her and she wants to know what’s really going on with her body.
“Hmm…” you respond, “well, do you know how a mommy gets a baby in her belly?” You ask her.
“Huh!?” She responds with a jolt as though that’s the last thing she expected you to be asking. “Uhh… yeah, umm… Charity told me… when…” Her vision gets a little cloudy and she looks off avoiding eye contact. That’s right, around 4 years ago when Charity was 11, she started playing “doctor” with Roni, and eventually, Angel and Bastian got involved as well until they got caught. It sounded like they never did much more than touching, but the four of them really caught hell about it from your mother, especially Charity. Since the others were younger, things seem to have let up on them, but to this day it seems like your mom is still sore with Charity about it. It was quite the over-reaction, and it seems to have left some psychological scars on them in this area.
“Well..” you say, moving right along in order to get off this topic, “this is what your body does when it starts getting ready to have a baby,” you tell her.
“Huh?” She responds again.
“Before now, you couldn’t have a baby even if you did the things with a boy that are supposed to make you get pregnant, but now that you’ve started bleeding like this it means that you are ready and that you will get pregnant if you do that.”
“Oh...” She responds, looking down and closing her legs to conceal herself in nervousness and embarrassment. “But why is it blood?” She asks. She seems to have accepted this explanation and is a lot calmer now, so it is looking like things are good for now.
