Making the Team/Bring Mary (9)

You're not exactly 100% sure why he needs your sister to come with you, but you're in too much of a rush to worry about it. This is surely about your starting spot on the team, which you desperately want, so why should you bother about such details? Actually you should, and if you would stop and think about it for a second you would realize that, but you don't. With a grin of triumph you jump from your chair and make a decision. Jodie would never come with you, she's just such a bitch sometimes, and Stacy is most likely somewhere outside running around and making a ruckus god knows where, so you would have to search for her. That leaves Mary to ask if she could come with you.

You walk down the hallway and to your younger sister's room, knocking on it immediately. "Mary? You in there?"

"Just a minute!" she yells from inside and you hear some hurried movements. After a long moment her door swings open dramatically. Her face is bright red and you immediately notice the badly put on blush, eye-shadow and bright red lip-stick. And of course the thick mascara, making her blue eyes stand out even more than usual. The strong smell of sweat and perfume hits your face. Her brown hair is held back by a red and white, polkadot-covered hair-band, out of style since the fifties. She is wearing a jeans-skirt a bit too large for her, held in place by a belt formerly belonging to your older sister, and a pink top that would show off every curve. If she had any. You are torn between feeling ashamed for her, laughing at her and just ignoring it, but then you decide that it is best to just be silent about it.

"Hey Mary, I need your help with something," you tell her then, hiding your amusement as best as you can. Apparently she had, once more, tried to appear older than she is, dressing up and everything, she even put on nail-polish, if badly so.

"Why?" she asks you, most likely disturbed, and a bit ashamed, that you have interrupted her.

"Please? Jesse wants to hang out with me and my cute little sister today," you reply, leaving out the fact that he had never actually said that but just told you to bring your sister.

"Oh!" Her face brightens up immediately. "Jesse thinks I'm cute?"

"Yup. Just hurry up, okay?"

"Okay." She hesitates for a second, then she asks you with a hopeful smile, "Shall I redress or... is this okay?"
