Chapter 3

A long time ago Kim and her brother would often play together, typically whatever stupid game she wanted. But that was a long time ago… About 3 years ago, to be precise.

Kim

Last night Kim had heard his brother doing his nasty stuff again. She hated it. In the morning Sam was still out cold. She left to school before he even woke up.

A typical day at school. Boring, pointless day. Thank god she had Carmen to pass the time.

“Are you going to eat that?” Kim asked her.

“Yes stupid. Let me finish this first! Jeez.” Carmen said. Carmen was eating chicken nuggets and usually left the cheese sticks. But not this time.

When school was out she saw his brother on the bus. He looked miserable, most likely because he missed the bus and was late. Didn’t he have a perfect record? Serves him right for staying up late. Creep.

At home she finally finished reading her book, and afterwards watched some SpongeBob on DVD. Kim was 6, about to be 7, but she still loved this show. Sam was cooped up in his room, hopefully crying his eyes out. Who would do something so gross? She knew all about the perverted things that plague this world, and hated it, but she had to act innocent, or her mother would send her to the therapist again… Fuck that.

Her mother called them to dinner in the middle of SpongeBob and Patrick selling chocolates to the weirdest customer. She quickly ate and finished before her brother even came downstairs. Kim’s mother soon asked her to check on Sam. She bargained that she would only till after the episode was over. She didn’t want to go near Sam. But she had to. Every. Single. Day. They shared a bedroom after all.

When it ended she checked and found her brother sound asleep. "On my bed!" She couldn’t believe the nerve of this idiot!

“MOM!” She yelled at the top of her lungs, fully knowing it would scare the living shit out of Sam. And it very well did. So much so that he tried to stand up, slammed his head on the top bed, and fell flat on the floor. She was almost worried, but caught herself.

“What was that?!” Her mother sounded panicked. Oops.

“Nothing, it’s just that Sam is sleeping on MY bed!” Kim protested. Rising from the ground Sam took one long, mean stare at her and climbed to his bed. Kim hoped he didn’t leave saliva on her bed. She heard her mother coming up the stairs. When she entered the room she took in the situation. “He got off it now, but he can’t be sleeping on mine.”

Her mother sighed. “Kim, please go downstairs, Sam and I have to talk.”

"Good," she thought, "he better be punished or else…" Leaving the room she realized that she too was tired. She had been planning on lying on the couch and reading awhile but that option was gone. Her unread books were in the bedroom. She had to go back to grab one at least.

As she got close to the door she heard voices. Their conversation. Kim was eavesdropping on them, and maybe she would get to hear Sam get an earful. But what she got to hear was something that almost made her wished she hadn’t.

“Sam, you know how your sister is about these things... Sam, are you listening?”

Kim heard a faint mumble.

Her mother pressed on. “Remember how bad she got once Micheal left? You need to consider what she’s feeling more often.”

“What?” It was Sam now. “How come she gets special attention when all she does is act like an idiot?”

“Sam! That isn’t fair and you know that!… She needs time.”

“But what about how I feel? All I do is think about her…” He sounded hurt.

Kim didn’t know how to process what was going on. Had they been hiding something from her? Nothing happened to her when Micheal left, in fact, things got better… And Sam’s remark about her was just creepy. She always knew her brother was a perv. But maybe…

“Well, you need to act nice to her, you simply let her do what she wants. That isn't what it’s about, it’s about connecting with her, talking, and learning why she is acting this way. I have tried for so long, and you are siblings! You should be closer to her than I could ever be.”

Sam didn’t seem to buy it. “No, she hates me. She never liked me and I can’t talk to her. She never wants me around.” He sounded like he was trying to convince himself, but already knew it was true.

Her mother sighed again. “Sam, you need to do this, or she’ll just get worse.”

Why.

“But it isn’t fair! I tried, but she keeps on hating me! You are the one who isn’t trying!”

Why did it come to this?

“Don’t you dare. I have done everything for you. Micheal left me alone with two kids and nothing else! No kind of support! Neither of you want a new father and I can’t manage you two and work every damn day!” They were screaming so loud now that they could be heard form the bottom floor. Something was thrown against the wall and broke. Kim heard tumbling and a fearful cry from her brother.

It was her fault, wasn't it? It was all her fault. Micheal knew it, she had been born all fucked up.

Smack! smack! smack! Crying. More hits. Wailing. Something heavy fell. She felt her body heating up so much she felt that she would burn through the floor. Screaming for her to stop. Her brother was screaming and crying. She could feel the pain in his voice. I’m sorry! Her mother was crying. Slam! Begging for her to stop. Tears were running down her cheeks, but Kim couldn’t notice. Then the loud nosies faded. Only the sound of sobbing and her pounding hear were left. It stayed like that for awhile.

Kim left.

After sometime Millie came out of the bedroom. Kim had already washed her faced and calmed herself. Like nothing ever happened. Millie also acted like it couldn’t have been heard form the whole house. Millie went to coop herself in the kitchen, like usual. It was staring to get late. Time for her bedtime (the bedtime she set for herself).

“Sam?” She asked, checking to see if he was awake. He was not. Such an idiot, how could he sleep after all that? She took a set of her pajamas to the bathroom to change, then headed back. She closed the door carefully and quietly crawled into bed. “Well,” she thought, “I am never gonna talk to that bitch again. And Sam is just a idiot, selfish and stupid.” They thought she was too weak to handle Micheal’s absence? Ha. Fuck him. She was gonna show them. All of them, that she was more than happy that he left. Nothing changed about her, besides growing up. Don’t they know that people change naturally as they mature? Stupid. She could change anytime she wanted. Only thing stoping her was them. Why had things come to this? Planing these things behind her back. Her mom was behind this, that piece of shit. Kim laid wake for several hours, thinking about the events of today. Eventually she felt her eyelids grow heavy and it was getting harder to think.

She had one last thought before she fell asleep. "Today had been a shit day."

END OF CHAPTER 3

Chapter 4

Oof, heavy stuff. After all this big drama, what could happen next? Kim seems to be a bit smarter than that stupid brother of her's. Or at least, that's what she believes. Guess we'll have to see. This was a bit of a shorter chapter, so sowwy! I was busy so had less time to put into this. Next chapter will include both Sam and Kim's perspectives and will hopefully be longer. Feel free to leave things in the discussion section, I do read it! See ya!
