"I can't help it," you say. "It's not something you can just make happen, and you can't just make it go away either.
"The kids at school say that men who look at kids like that are pedos; are you a pedo?"
You shake your head. "No, I'm not a pedo," you say, indignantly. "Just because I like to look at pretty girls…"
“If I tell you something, can you keep it a secret,” she says. Of course, you assure her that you’d never repeat anything she told you if she didn’t want you to. She rambles on a bit about some sleepover and says that her friend Kayla told her something that she promised never to tell anyone. “I guess you don’t know her or anyone she knows, apart from mom, so it should be okay," she says.
"Go on; you know I keep secrets. I never told on you when you broke that window did I?"
She takes a deep breath; “Kayla’s been doing it with her brother."
She says it fast with the words all running into each other and you’re not sure she said what you think she said; “pardon,” you say.
"Kayla and her brother; they've had sex together. she says they did it a couple of weeks ago but only the once because they’re scared of getting caught.”
“Was she okay about it,” you ask; “how old is he? And what do you think about it?”
Katie thinks for a minute. “He's a couple of years older; thirteen I think. She said it was okay, but they didn’t really know what they were doing even though they had been looking at porn on his computer.” She looks up at you. “Did you ever think about me like that,” she asks.
You shake your head but then… “Maybe; when I was a lot younger,” you say, feeling yourself go red.
“I remember that you used to cuddle me a lot, but then you stopped; why was that?” You shrug and Katie goes quiet for a while, obviously thinking. “So what about now; I know you were looking at me, and your thingy swelled up like in the park with those girls. It's all very confusing.”
