The dim lights of the restaurant added to the ambience as Oliver sat in his booth near the back of the establishment an almost empty basket of fries in front of him. As October finally showed its face in town, the place was already decorated for Halloween, even with it only being the first week of the month. There were die cut cardboard pictures of witches and ghosts and pumpkins and black cats that looked like they came straight from an elementary school’s decoration closet. The feeling of nostalgia was overwhelming to him, in a good way. Content that He didn’t feel like eating the rest of his fries, Oliver decided to throw away the leftovers and headed back towards his bicycle, with a big basket attached to front, waiting to be occupied by a big, healthy pumpkin.

Oliver was already 15, but he didn’t mind showing some Halloween spirit from time to time, and lived only a few hours away from a massive pumpkin patch just outside of town. As He neared the pumpkin patch, He could see some small families and couples wandering the field searching for a pumpkin right for them. The boy took a deep breath of cool, autumn air and made his way to the entrance of the pumpkin patch.

After gandering at a few pumpkins that he thought would be decent choices for a radical Jack-o-lantern, a young girl bumped into him and fell lightly on her bottom with a sound escaping her mouth like a woof. “Goodness!” Oliver blurted out, caught by surprise. He bent down and reached out to help her up. Oliver guessed she was somewhere around 9 or 10 or maybe 11 years old. “T-Thank you mister.” She winced, as she held onto his hand for support. “I should have watched where I was going I’m sorry-“ Oliver waved it off, “No worries kid, I’m all good, you okay?” Once she was on her feet, she brushed off her pants and apologized again, he reassured the girl that he was in good condition and she didn’t need to worry about anything. No scrapes or bruises to see on him. “Yeah, I’m okay. My pants might be a little dirty now though.” Oliver said with a smile. The girl that stood in front of him had dark hazel, kinky brown hair and beautiful glistening green eyes, with a nice coco, light ebony skin tone that complimented them.Like a black cat on a dark Halloween night , Oliver thought, and he bit his lip to keep in a chuckle. “My name is Addilyn,” she said, holding her hand out for a shake.
