I could see Emily going to get the statue and have it transform into Snape...

Unrelated to the scene at hand, but did you know that Emily has another cousin at school? Nymphadora Tonks is a 7th year Hufflepuff. Maybe she's a prefect in this universe? Perhaps Emily could attempt to steer her away from her Auror internship? (Having access to Voldy's memories, she can see how much her family has been a thorn in his side.) This would possibly open up an opportunity for Emily to gain access to her aunt Andromeda.
- On the statue, I’m thinking it’s good for fighting and fucking, but not at impersonating people. It can look like them, and sound like them, but it’s not smart enough to impersonate them. Emily is going to hold back the statue for when she really needs it, so she won’t be using it on fellow students or something like the troll when it turns up.
- On Nymphadora, I hadn’t realised that. Is she mentioned in the first book at all? I’ll definitely have them meet up.
I’ve gotta write the first week at Hogwarts scene nexus now, as well as the rest of the Gemma and Marcus scene.

Nymphadora Tonks (and Charlie Weasley, Gryffindor Prefect and Quidditch Captain.) attended Hogwarts between 1984 and 1991.
While not stated by J.K. Rowling, the information is present in the official mobile game (Hogwarts Mystery); in which, Tonks has a pretty expansive story arc.
While my info is somewhat lacking, they may have already graduated on the prime timeline but this universe may be slightly different. (Gives you access to more characters, without having to think up names or personalities)

Metamorphagus is different from Animagus?
Unlike Animagi, Metamorphmagi can take a wide variety of forms, changing sex and age, potentially looking like anyone at all, or even just changing a part of their appearances, such as the shape of their noses. Animagi also transform at will, but only into one animal form which is determined by their inner traits. A metamorphmagi can also be an animagi, with training.
