I'm in my room trying to finish my work for the day when I hear someone knock.

"Rei? It's mom!" a voice says from the other side.

"Come in!" I shout without looking up from my computer.

She enters the room. After surveying my room, the first thing out of her mouth is of course, "You should really clean this place up, Rei..."

Not even dignifying that with an eye roll, I reply with the same thing I say every time she says this. "It's not that messy, I know where everything is, nothing is smelling, nothing is damaging to the house."

"Yeah, but... It just looks messy. Wouldn't you feel better if it was.. a bit cleaner?"

I do roll my eyes now. "Did you just come in here to give my quality of life tips, or did you need something? I'm trying to finish up my work for the day before I start babysitting."

"Actually, that's why I came in. A coworker of mine with no kids gave me some day passes she won to the local YMCA. Why don't you take the neighbor girls there? I bet they'd enjoy that."

Looking up from my work, I give her my full attention. "Oh, that actually sounds great. Uh, thanks mom."

"Of course, dear. Now I gotta get ready for work - I'll be home late again tonight." she says.

Setting the pool passes down on my desk, my mother gives me a hug around the shoulders then leaves, closing the door behind her. 'This could be fun!' I think to myself. 'I bet the girls have some cute swimsuits!~'

Later that afternoon...
