The Entertainer/Playing around

The castle feels emptier than usual. Maids on breaks, Butlers out, less guards than usual and the royal family is separated for a nice summer vacation. On one side, the Queen and the kids lounging in a private manor in the mountains near a lake where they can enjoy the outdoors without fearing invaders that may roam about. Pretty lucky I'd say, I'd kill for a nice walk in the woods and hunt...Thought i can do that here, I just wish for new scenery.

On the other side, the King saw this as a good opportunity to teach his oldest son, the heir to the throne, what it means to lead and what he will own one day. There's one problem...

"Look at my face!" The young boy standing in front of me is a little joke! A little pink bunny not even half my size stretching his eyes, tongue out, grimacing, ears twirling in all ways and playing about, he's barely the age of six! Sporting his royal garments, blue pants, and a red buttoned formal coat, his personality isn't giving those clothes their due value. For being the oldest...I could easily say he is actually the youngest! While the others are already admitting jealousy of the poor boy, he takes no regard and just wishes to play his days away! "And look at mine!" As my abilities allows me to alter myself, i start spinning my face. Anyone else would have found this grotesque and alarming...But not him. He start giggling while looking away saying "Ewwww!"

It's a nice little tradition of ours. We'd play around the castle for hours to the point it feels like I'm the Father of the kid and not just a simple jester. The other kids had their share of fun, but not as much as this little guy. If anything, I'd catch them saying mean things about him. No amount of comfort would wipe their distaste of knowing they won't be the spotlight of their father. Such a shame they're so young too. No kids should feel abandoned that way, but i suppose that is how things work there...After all, the King is overseeing most of the lands in a daily fashion, meaning barely any time for his children. Meanwhile the Queen is there, but can't fully give each of them the attention they deserve. The maids and butlers are doing a good job for that, but you can tell there is a hole that need satisfaction for those kids.

We are alone in the hallway and the guards are barely paying attention to us...One look is all it takes to gain the attention of the boy, as his curiosity will shift to them, bombarding the guards about questions of their life and battles they've done in the past. It has happened several times, and because there is a rule that you cannot deny a request from the royal family, they have to suffer until he gets bored and go away. I still find it amusing at times as some will invent stories just to entertain him, or they will give him a rather angry look while answering his questions. God have mercy for the poor fool telling him to go away...It happened before. Said guard was humiliated in the town square, tomatoes thrown at him. Nobody was there to say if it was true, but a crying kid was just enough for the King to take action. After that the guard was sent to the military fodder, a peon littering the streets waiting for the next big thing.
