Chapter 2

THE SUNSET BROUGHT OVER MENSIA

The sound of honking horns and the soft humming of stagnating engines occupied the densely crowded streets, with the sun shining over the stoutly built brick buildings she promptly reached over the sparingly used console and with swift movements the bothersome sunset bothered her no longer. The light flashed green and she was off, however as she drove slowly through the steady flowing traffic synapses within her brain fired - sending dopamine coursing throughout her body, the motor neurons within her body instinctively reached forth to the cup holder to where her phone had been stored. A NeoGAF forum page was the banner which occupied her home screen -”How long has it been out?! Are there going to be any left?!” The discussion title read. What game had they been talking about? The only games she had heard of which were set to release soon was a Quake remaster - which was heavily anticipated to her - and the fabled Fable IV, a game she hadn't been familiar with but upon further inspection discovered she had played earlier on in her gaming career. She figured that she would investigate further when her traversal across the city to its edge was made safely. Her hands were placed firmly on the wheel, at ten and at two o’clock like it had said in the manual. Though within her chest her heart still beat of anxiety she did as she routinely did - ‘getting anxious only makes you more likely to get into an accident’ she repeated to herself to aid in the overcoming of drivers anxiety. Though it wasn’t necessarily the crash that induced the majority of the fear she felt - but the consequences of interrupting the steady flow of traffic that was so commonly associated with the nine hour work day she was herself a part of. Throughout the duration of the ride home a sensation inexplicably looked over her; a feeling of anticipation hung over her, occupying fully the folds in her cerebrum. What felt like hours had passed before she found herself blankly staring forwards at a concrete parking barricade, she pulled the keys from her ignition and sat in silence for a brief moment; allowing her ears to ring, allowing for the invasion of deafening silence. Naomi had finally escaped a dark oak desk, the internship which simultaneously handicapped her and gave her the advantage she seeked so thoroughly in the workplace. ‘its only another two months..’ She said to herself as she did every other day, two more months of that dress shirt she hated so much.. two more months of mildly uncomfortable leggings, and two more months of that tight pencil skirt she wished so dearly she could burn. She stepped from her car, a black leather purse hung from her shoulders and swung gently with her stride, before her the overbearing apartment complex seemingly reached into the sky. Its intimidating exterior was composed of dark wooden shingles, stained with time and rotted with the occasional rainfall which befell over the city of Mensia - the very city where her internship had brought her. She inserted the brass key into the lock and pushed the heavy wooden door open, leaving the dense and humid halls behind her. She felt some sort of vague satisfaction as the closed the door behind her, hearing the latch click she turned the deadbolt. Her purse hitting the floor with a heavy thud she felt as though she weren’t far from doing the same herself. At the dining room table which sat small and circular her supplies were settled down firmly in the center of it, she lunged herself forth into the chair - the chair that was so generously given to her on behalf of the landlord - seeing that her email was filled to the brim with requests. She would spend from now until ten sketching and drawing for those who commissioned her - drawing all varieties of characters, animals, people pets.. she did it all at a certain price, a price cheap enough to bring people in. A knock suddenly erupted through the wooden door, she had taken the shirt off and was now wearing loose fitting pyjama pants. She undid the deadbolt and peered through the small crack between the door and its frame, she had her wallet on hand due to her expecting it to be her nightly takeout. However it wasn't so, unknown was it to her that her wallet would be redundant in the situation.

“..Ms. Natsuki?” A man on the opposing side of the door demanded, he stood well dressed in a light blue shirt and dark blue denim jeans. “Package for you ma’am,” she pulled the door open further once the embarrassment and unexpectedness had subsided “oh? From who?” He didn't answer this question, he had been too occupied thrusting it into her arms, it was oddly light - which was something far more than she expected - given its size, and atop was a pale white envelope addressed to Naomi Natsuki, printed nicely in black ink.

Bringing it to her living room she peeled open the letter, wherein there was a dainty eggshell coloured card. “Congratulations..! It began, she flipped the card open to see a signature from her boss “More often than not hard work often goes unappreciated, I would just like to thank you. You're a punctual, well organized woman. Something not too commonly crossed, especially in the chaotic times we live in now. I have been wanting to thank you for some time but didn't know what to buy for you, but I have seen your search history and the websites you browse - and your resume as well - and figured this would be something that would interest you. I look forwards to seeing you again tomorrow, and please.. Don't thank me” It finished, signed with it was a small heart outlined in red ink. “Cute..” she spoke to herself, to her surprise she had muttered it aloud. The device was small, at least when contextualising it. A pair of headphones alongside a large inwards facing screen - the deep dive it boasted itself as. She scanned quickly through the instructions though little was it needed granted she was able to be raised in a technologically savvy generation.

Ethernet port? She plugged it in promptly. Setting it properly atop her skull she was instructed to lay down, she found it daunting as she feared the uneven distribution of Wireless internet, she found herself laying down amongst the carpet within the living room. The screen erupted to a blinding whiteness, where a pale robot appeared, alas she discovered what she saw was her. Standing nude with arms hanging down at her sides, “..movement synchronization required - lift your left arm.” The machine demanded and with great curiosity she obliged. The sensation could only be described as odd - as she felt herself lifting her arm, however outside of the simulation it was simply not so. “..Paralysis systems are verified.” The machine to which no form could be placed replied simply to the movement. With an abrupt shift she found herself within the confines of an oddly lit concrete room, before her behind what she interpreted to be a default template were expansive hallways stretching out as far as the eye could see. What loaded was two buttons, of which read “Create new Character? YES or NO” she promptly selected the large YES and was greeted with several robot figures of whom emerged from the countless halls outstretched, she interpreted these as default templates. There had been six of them for what she counted - though she disregarded a majority of the others due to their redundancy to her, she selected the default female template. Noting the bust she looked down at her own and found herself to be naked; she took note of her noticeably large breasts and scaled up the size of her bust

                        Chest - 45

The breasts of her character swelled noticeably, the nipples of which were delicately centered atop her mountainous mammaries, she was embarrassed however to only now see the options she was presented with; height, weight, waist, hips.

                        Height - 5’10”

The avatar reached upwards, standing as tall as most of the men that surrounded her.

                        Waist - 32

She found this variable to be oddly specific, but the discrepancy between thirty one and thirty three seemed far too large. She thus opted for the so-called ‘Goldilocks Zone’

                        Weight - 145

Though this in of itself seemed a number larger than she originally anticipated, she took into account the length of her spine, and of her legs. She concluded that this would be a realistic enough weight to sustain the aforementioned statistics.

                         Hips - 35

She watched with a great deal of pleasure as the hips of her avatar grew wider and thicker, her thighs vaguely increasing in muscle. Her attention was brought down to the avatars nether regions. She wondered to herself if she were able to swell the lips of this area.. she took great pleasure in doing so.

                      Skin tone - Pale

She absolutely adored the way in which the paleness of skin accentuated the blush that typically arose to her soft cheeks, and the contrast which it provided for the soft and supple nipples below. She reached forth and pinched the nipple of the avatars left breast; to her surprise it seemed as though it were an actual woman before her. The last option which was “Racial Preset” she knew not to press as it would ruin the ideal her - and instead she opted for the Mirror mode; which projected her face onto the body. At first her deep and pale blue eyes, then the rounded shape of her chin. She took the liberty of adding a seductive thigh gap betwixt her thick plump thighs. Naomi looked the figure up and down, she added dark blue piercings to her earlobes, and pale blue highlights to her pastel pink hair. Under the piercings menu, under a large variety of piercings, she pierced the soft pink nipples of the other her; she reached forth and caressed them softly - she felt like a doll in her hands. “..I.. wish I could compete,” Naomi found herself muttering before she ultimately lunged forwards, locking lips to the beautiful thing. Her hands greedily ate at her wide hips, her eyes were shut as to deny her psych the idea that the very thing which she were engaging and worshiping wasn't real. She squeezed the plump posterior.

A knock at the door was heard, the first of many. She promptly logged out of the character to which it asked her; “You haven't named your character yet!” In a hurry she titled the form Character 1 and answered the door, dressed sloppily a man - who certainly hadn't delivered her food - brought it to her attention that on the sopping carpet there lie a plastic bag. “Was just wondering if that was yours?” The man asked, he smelt - and resembled - like he smoked a dozen packages of tobacco cigarettes in a day. “..yes.. it is sir, thank you,” she bent down and pulled the plastic bag towards her chest, she closed the door promptly. The image resided within her head, the shape. The shapes which composed her. Naomi looked down and saw her smaller breasts, and after setting her bag of takeout down on her countertop she sighed softly, and began to consume her dinner. While Naomi slurped the noodles from the cardboard takeout box she scrolled through her phone - seeing the wondrous possibilities that had been beheld by those who had purchased the Deep Dive; cosplays, roleplays, it had truly been.. it was truly a monumental cultural milestone. ‘this is what they were talking about?’ She had suddenly remembered the weird excitement that had rode alongside her in the car, the curiosity. Naomi had even found a forum for the device. She promptly joined, and for what felt like minutes hours had passed - and for the first time in what felt decades, she went to sleep stimulated; looking forward to the day to come.
