There are no active autoblocks. Unless you share an IP with a user that has been blocked, I couldn't tell you what's happening. If that were the case it should have shown up before now, however. --Elerneron (talk) 17:54, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

You haven't added the category to your most recent pages. This is not optional. ALL story pages require a category. It's not that hard. Please start adding categories to your story pages. --Elerneron (talk) 00:57, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

You have been given Contributor Status. Please consult the Format Rules to learn how to format content for the story wiki. Thanks, and welcome to the site. --Elerneron (talk) 21:21, 4 December 2022 (CET)

Elerneron

There are several problems with the format of your story Mindslaver V2.:

 • First, all links MUST contain a unique element in the link (usually the story name) so that it stories don't bleed into one another. Every page of the wiki needs a unique name. Since the link IS the page name, you need to use something unique in the links.
 • Second ALL story pages need to contain category (also usually the story name) so that all the pages can be seen together and so that the automatic calculation for number of pages works proper.

Please review the Format Rules and make the appropriate changes. If you need help, or have any questions, you can contact me on my talk page. --Elerneron (talk) 16:44, 16 December 2022 (CET)

I don't mean this in an insulting way, so please don't get offended, but I have been directing you to the directions on how to learn how to properly contribute to the site. Please follow the link below:

this is a link --->Format Rules<--- this is a link

The articles go over each of the steps to properly format stories for a wiki (more specifically for this wiki). The link(s) to it is right on the main page under the heading Write Stories; I put a link to it every time I give someone contributor status; and it is displayed on the site notice. You aren't the only one who has somehow completely missed the links to the Format Rules but I don't know how to make them more visible. Please read the Format Rules, and feel free to use the edit tab on story pages to look at the formatting of other writer's pages to learn how to write for the wiki. Once you have read the Format Rules, if you have any questions, I will be happy to address them.

I don't mean to be offensive, as I am the one at fault and not you or others like you; so please read the following with that in mind. It's getting tiresome having to repeat this process for so many new writers when, from my perspective, I am providing them all the tools that they need to learn how to write for the site from the very beginning. If you could give me any advice on how I could have better directed you to the Format Rules it would be very helpful to try to minimize the misunderstanding for future contributors. I realize that it is a failing on my part somehow, but maybe I'm just too close to see what my problem is. If you could help me out here it would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, you do not need to manually type your signature. Three tilde symbols (~) in a row creates a signature. Four tilde symbols in a row creates a signature and date stamp. There is also a button on every talk page to place it for you right after bold and italic before link. --Elerneron (talk) 11:50, 17 December 2022 (CET)

Since you're still having trouble with links, I'll try copying the entire article here. The only way I can imagine having issues with it is if you haven't read the article, despite me linking to it over and over again. So here...I'll bring the article to you:

Sometimes one page is just not enough for a story, or you want to write an interactive story where the reader gets to make choices and read about the consequences. That's where links come in. You should have already made one link in that you made the link to the first page of your story. In it's simplest form, a link is simply a page title surrounded by double braces:

Chapter 2

The problem is that each page needs a unique name. As we get more stories, they could start bleeding into each other as we start duplicating page names. The way to handle this is to make the links unique to the story. The easiest way to do this is to add the story name to the link:

My Story/Chapter 2

This also makes your choices sub-pages of your story, meaning that it will provide a link back to the beginning of the story at the top of the page, pretty handy for interactive stories.

Now comes the other issue. Who wants to see the story name in front of every link? I know I don't. So you simply create an alternate text for the reader:

Continue to Chapter 2

Now the reader only sees Continue to Chapter 2, while the page name is nice and unique to the story.

Hopefully that helps. (And you still aren't using my advice on how to post your signature. It isn't rocket science). --Elerneron (talk) 08:01, 19 December 2022 (CET)

Link Trouble

I'll try helping you with your links. It's hard to explain something when I don't know what parts you already understand and what parts are causing trouble, so would you mind explaining what you are having trouble with?

The basic format of a link should be:

What it says

In the "Where it goes" side the link needs to have the story name at the beginning, separated with a forward slash, to keep the site organized. E.g.

Link text

So, in a story you may have a link written like this:

Open the chest

Which will render like this:

Open the chest

The messaging system on this site is my one big problem with it. This back and forth on User Talk pages is the standard way to send a DM. Anyway, I added links to your Mindslaver V2. page. I'm still not sure what part you need to have explained more. If you can ask more specific questions that would help me help you. You are definitely right about writing pages here essentially being coding. I'm not exactly sure what language it is but it is basically some combination of HTML and CSS, with some restrictions I think. --LukeJ (talk) 02:18, 22 December 2022 (CET)
