Hi. I hope I don’t come across as rude, but do you intend to go back to The End of the World as We Know It!? |
Revision as of 22:09, 30 March 2021
Welcome to the site. I hope you enjoy your stay. If you have any questions, or need any help please feel free to contact me on my Talk Page. Feel free to remove this welcome notice if it bothers you. --Elerneron (talk) 05:34, 15 December 2015 (CET)
Thanks for adding your story The End of the World as we Know it! I have noticed that you are a bit inconsistent in how you add the title name to the choices. As long as the title name is on the options, I don't really care how you go about it. Here are a few things to keep in mind, however. If you want a link back to the first page of the story on each page, you'll need to change the name of the first page of the story to EOTW as you are using for the other pages, then in the links add a forward slash /
after EOTW. This lets the reader quickly start the story over when they hit an ending. If you use a colon :
instead of a forward slash, you will not get the link back, but it is easier to display alternate text. For instance: if you have the link as EOTW:Go to that place
it will display the same as Go to that place
. Basically, using a colon makes it only display what is after the colon if you use the pipe character |
rather than having to type the whole thing again. Any other method has no real value in the system, but like I said it is still perfectly acceptable. If you would like, I can convert your current pages to one of these system as my admin status makes it a bit easier for me to do than it would be for you to do it yourself; or you can keep things as they are. --Elerneron (talk) 06:43, 31 March 2016 (CEST)
You will have to move the actual pages to their new titles using the move option under the More
dropdown list at the top of the page. For instance, if you change the option from Some title
to Some title
, you will also need to move the page EOTW Some title
to EOTW/Some title
. I hope that makes sense. --Elerneron (talk) 13:01, 31 March 2016 (CEST)
That's okay, finding blank pages is easy for me using the tools on the site . . . and since I have to check every edit I usually don't need to. When a writer blanks their own page I assume it is a deletion request and act accordingly. --Elerneron (talk) 13:19, 31 March 2016 (CEST)
Making a request section on your User Page is perfectly acceptable, but the style of the page is entirely up to you, there isn't a template for that kind of thing right now. If you want to copy someone else's style (Jemini's for example) I don't believe there would be an issue. I treat a User's Talk page pretty much like it was one of their stories. You are pretty much allowed to do whatever you wish with the page, within reason. If you are talking about making it look pretty, that is just a matter of using HTML and inline CSS. If you need a reference for that you can try w3schools, they are my favorite reference. If you have something specific in mind, I can write some code for the page if you would like. If you would rather have a template for it, that would take a bit of work . . . and I'd want to talk to others who take requests to get a consensus of how they would want the template to look; but I'm open to making a template if people need one. Just let me know what you would like to do. --Elerneron (talk) 20:36, 20 September 2016 (CEST)
It's fine if you want to copy the method of making requests that I use in my stories. It's a bit easier for me to use this method as I already have to police all edits that are made on the site, but if it works for you as well, that's great. I use the same method I use in Life Hacks in All Hell Breaks Loose and Fairly Oddparents: Timmy's Awakening btw. The time code you see is automatically generated when you use the wiki signature code. The wiki signature code is just four tilde symbols in a row ~~~~
. It then generated your wiki signature and time stamp. The second to last control on the Edit Page UI will also insert the signature code in, and is likely the way most people utilize it. Either way is a lot easier than trying to build the signature yourself. --Elerneron (talk) 14:01, 20 October 2016 (CEST)
People sharing the ring Yes in Yes is a very distinct possibility. The ring works for whomever is wearing it, therefore passing it back and forth would have no unforeseen effect (other than the possibility of dropping it mid transfer and it rolling off or something of the sort . . . but that should be a foreseen possibility). Since you want to create new main characters, be sure to make character sheets for their immediate family at the very least, and possibly important friends and family members. I can help you with those if you need help.
I know what you mean about feedback. The way to keep me writing in a story is to comment on (or better yet write on) that story. Jemini has expressed a similar sentiment as well, so I think it's pretty common around here. For me the feedback needs to come before I get tired of a story. Once that happens it's VERY hard for me to get back into it. --Elerneron (talk) 18:01, 16 January 2017 (CET)
You're in luck. Since you made that request so fast, I made the next post pretty fast as well. Jemini (talk) 23:38, 21 January 2017 (CET)
You're good to go whenever you feel ready. If you need help with the character sheets or anything, just let me know. I notice that at least one of the pictures that you chose is rather small, but they can always be changed later, and aren't the most important part of the character sheet anyway. I'd be willing to look for alternative pictures if you aren't satisfied with any of the ones that you're using, but if you are satisfied that's fine too.
I stalled a bit with the story myself and am having difficulty writing the Mina sex scene to my satisfaction, so I'm taking a little time in the hopes that it will help with my block. I look forward to your storyline. --Elerneron (talk) 21:52, 23 January 2017 (CET)
Looking good. I noticed that you didn't put family entries on the Characters page for some of the characters who had character sheets so I did so. If you could go through the two families and specify ages for the ones without character sheets I would appreciate it. Once I get a feel for how you are writing the story I may jump in. I'm especially interested in how you change point of view between the twins as they trade off the ring (especially if you write in second person as I have with the Chad storyline . . . though third person would make thing easier and less confusing since there are two main characters I suppose). --Elerneron (talk) 15:53, 24 January 2017 (CET)
I need help on Talk:Pass It Along/10 with the spell you had Ophelia recite. Thanks. --Elerneron (talk) 17:12, 31 August 2018 (CEST)
