"Alright, let's just play Eeny meeny miny moe to see who's first. We'll even include everyone," you say, and begin playing, starting with July and ascending through them by age with Autumn being the last one in the sequence. Little do they all know, however, that the rhyme for "eeny meeny miny moe" has exactly 8 syllables in the first two verses and 14 in the final verse. no matter how many you add to the mix. This means that if you have exactly 2, 4, or 8 people in the group you're selecting from, whoever is the last person in the sequence will always be the one who gets selected by the rhyme if you only use one or two verses, and the 2nd or 6th person will be the one selected if you use the 3rd verse.
Of course, knowing this, you use only the first 2 verses. Otherwise, it would be Jan who would get selected. But, with nothing established ahead of time, and only the oldest children of the group being of a maturity level where they might realize just how easy it is to cheat with this method, you don't expect them to have much room to protest.
As expected, the rhyme ends with you pointing directly at Autumn.
"No fair, you cheated!" Autumn protests.
"I cheated? How?" You ask.
"You must have counted, you knew it would end on me!" She said.
Well, looks like maybe she does know that trick.
