Trag (talk) 05:18, 12 December 2022 (CET) I'm wondering how I can post a story. I just recently got the contributor status, but I don't know how to post a story here. I need some help on that front. I can probably figure out the rest from there.
Hmm... didn't actually see where the option to do that was located. I guess I should look a little more carefully next time I'm editing something. Jemini (talk) 12:14, 12 December 2022 (CET)
Ok, found it. Not exactly in the most intuitive place as to let me find it even not knowing I had the option, but it was in just good enough of a place that I found it quickly when I was actually looking for it. Jemini (talk) 12:17, 12 December 2022 (CET)
idk how to make links to continue story, and such. & how 2 DM sum1.. God, Feast. (talk) 12:02, 17 December 2022 (CET)
If you're looking for recommendations on how to nail the format rules home for the new users, I would personally recommend linking to the specific subsection within the format rules when someone misses something critical. Like, a missing category? Or a scuffed link? Just link directly to Categories or Links respectively, instead of only linking the full format rules again. Linking to Full Format might also be helpful since it gives the user a good full picture of what the code for the page is supposed to look like. Or maybe link to a simple, existing story page like this so the user can get a more practical example of how stuff works correctly. Might be worth creating an example page for that so people don't accidentally mess up other people's work! (On that note, the "full format" is linked to on the front page but not under the Format Rules page, so it could also be helpful to add it there.)
Some of this might seem redundant since it's literally just one or two extra clicks for the user, but it COULD just make a difference since someone who has zero experience with html or editing pages will likely feel different. Like, I still remember when I was starting and had zero knowledge on the subject, just wondering, "wait, how the frick", and I'd imagine that most people are in a similar boat since this stuff hasn't probably been taught in school's IT classes in years. -- Innocent Ruin (talk) 13:15, 17 December 2022 (CET)
