This is where I was going with it. I was scratching my head wondering if there might be a justification to have John bring Tihana home with him for the night, and then this one lept out and made perfect sense. If they've already given up on her and spend all their time trying to mitigate the social damage she does to the family, they very well may just shy of pimp her out to John in exchange for a favor to keep the damage to the rest of the family minimal.
