The Last Horcrux/Hogwarts Express/Arriving at Hogwarts
At long last you have arrived at Hogwarts! After the long journey from London to the Highlands of Scotland, all the school pupils are eager to get off of the train as quickly as possible, and you, Lily and Hermione have to wait as some older boys push and shove their way off first.
You can see that the other girls are struggling with their heavy luggage, and so you decide to help them out a little. You want to help Lily, and you decide to help Hermione too, so as not to look unkind in front of Lily.
“Wingardium Leviosa” you incant, making Lily’s luggage float in the air, as light as a feather.
“Oh wow!” gasps Lily, “It’s flying!”
“Levitating,” you correct her, as you cast the same enchantment on Hermione’s luggage.
“Thanks Emily,” Hermione says, “I should have thought to cast that spell myself. I thought they would have someone help us with our luggage.”
“Thanks Emily,” Lily says, smiling, “it’s much easier to move all my things now.”
You and the other girls step off of the train and hear a huge man at the end of the platform, calling for all the first years to follow him.
“Come along now first years, follow me, we’ll be takin’ boats across the lake,” the huge man says, barely needing to raise his powerful voice, “second years an’ above, into the carriages, you know the way.”
You and the other first years follow the man, who is built like a bear with long curly brown hair and beard. You see your friend Lavender Brown, who runs up to you and gives you a hug.
“Emily!” She cries, “I’m sorry I didn’t get to see you! You were right, Diagon Alley was rammed, I should have gone shopping with you much earlier. Did you have a good holiday? I had a great time in France. Who are your friends?”
You introduce Lavender to Lily and Hermione, very glad that at least one of your Pureblood friends is being welcoming to them. Then you notice Draco Malfoy, looking at you in disgust.
“Have you found another Mudblood Lestrange?” He asks you, sneering, “you ought to know better than to hang out with them, you should be with your own kind. You too Lavender.”
Lavender just turns around and raises her nose at Malfoy, giving him a stupid look to let him know what she thinks of his judgement.
In return, Draco and his little gang, including Crabbe, Goyle, Pansy and Daphne give you all dirty looks and walk off in a huff.
You then see a tall, serious looking North African boy walking toward you. It’s your cousin Blaise Zambini, from the Libyan side of your mothers family, whom you’ve only met a couple of times before.
“Cousin,” he says, smiling, his arms open wide. You walk up to him and you hug, him kissing you on both cheeks. He says something in Italian but you don’t catch it, apologising to him in French which he switches into effortlessly.
“I thought you were going to Beauxbatons?” You ask him.
“My mother did want me to,” Blaise admits, “but my father said I could come here if I wanted to, and Hogwarts is by far the best place to learn magic. Who are your lovely friends?”
Switching back to English, you introduce him to Lily, Hermione and Lavender. He kindly greets them all, shaking their hand, but on hearing Lavender’s pureblood family name, and no doubt seeing her signet ring when he shakes hands with her, he surprises the girl by kissing her hand. Lavender blushes bright red and looks away, giggling.
“Emily,” Blaise continues, “Draco has been saying I should join House Slytherin with you and the others. You do want to join House Slytherin right? It’s traditional for the Lestranges?”
“But of course,” you reply, “Everyone knows that House Slytherin is the best.”
“I don’t think it’s the best,” says Lavender, “I want to be a Gryffindor. They’re so brave and heroic!”
