Generations/Have Cedric read them to you
You can’t handle the books without destroying them so best to keep the page with you. You lower your forefoot and extend your talons out to the boy and becon him to you. Cedric is obviously uncomfortable with the idea, but he doesn’t want to make you angry.
Once he has tentatively crawled into your palm, you wrap your digits around him, making sure to be gentle, and lift into the air, flying off to practice in the wild. You sore for about a half an hour and gently settle down into a field, far away from any farmland and your scent tells the nearest village isn’t for miles.
You gently uncurl your claws and set Cedric and the books down on the grass.
“How do you enjoy flying?”
“I-i-i-“ he stuttered “I d-d-don’t know if i-it’s f-for m-m-me M’Lord”
Poor boy. He needs to get used to you. You lay on the ground and command him to read you the books. He gives you a funny look
“D-d-d-“
“Speak your mind”
“C-can you not read?”
Boy’s got more gumption than you thought. You smile.
“I can, but my claws would ruin those books.”
He nods, opens a book titled “The Basics of Sorcery” and begins reading. You listen intently to his words, paying close attention to the instructions. According to the tome, it requires only force of will, so you focus on the creation of fire. It seems to be not long before a patch of grass several feet away is lite a blaze.
Cedric jumps at the effect and stares in awe at the sudden combustion. He looks back to you, wide eyed, and looks back to the book to continue, then to you for confirmation.
