It occurs to me that if a town of this sort has a brothel, and the way the prostitutes wind up working at the brothel is getting pregnant before they are married, there has GOT to be at least a few children in the school who are the children of prostitutes. Jemini (talk) 10:33, 19 September 2017 (CEST)

Fewer than you would imagine. The brothel exists and has working women there, those prostitutes know their job and take contraception. Threatening girls with a life in the brothel is just another way the town has to scare and control children. In reality most girls that turn up pregnant before marriage are either forced to get married or shipped out of town to avoid losing face. I'm sure there are some children of prostitutes in school, but probably only in very low grades, as their mothers wouldn't want them to suffer bullying over their jobs, and they actually have enough money to take them elsewhere.

An exception to this could be the Style family. I put in "Single Mother" just because I was too tired to look up a good name for a husband, but it could be that Janne is a prostitute that decided to keep her children in town. It would also tie nicely with why Beatriz hired her oldest daughter as a babysitter.

On a related note, I was discussing with Notsooldpervert the size of the school, since he was looking for images for the rest of the characters and noted that the high school classrooms had a single teacher for all subjects. I explained that indeed the school is quite small, and getting smaller. That's why they had to mix kindergarten and first grade, as well as high school juniors and seniors. For years the town has been suffering from brain drain, as there are not many opportunities for young people to work. --Tod Naturlich (talk) 17:40, 19 September 2017 (CEST)

Especially since young couples who get pregnant wind up dropping out of school. It makes sense for such a repressive society to crack down on sex ed, make it more simplified so "not to give children ideas" as opposed to actually educating them. It could also be that the children of prostitutes are shunned and not allowed in the school. --Notsooldpervert (talk) 20:01, 19 September 2017 (CEST)

Ok, I've created characters for all the images I had. I'll ask Notsooldpervert if he can find any more images for the already done characters. For now I don't think I can create any more on my own. --Tod Naturlich (talk) 19:02, 26 September 2017 (CEST)

My computer broke. For the time being i only have a phone. --Notsooldpervert (talk) 03:27, 30 September 2017 (CEST)

Sorry to hear that, I hope you manage to get it working again soon. I've been trying to find images for some of the characters, but I'm pretty bad at it, it takes me too long to find an adequate image. --Tod Naturlich (talk) 03:54, 30 September 2017 (CEST)

On that note, the images Tod pulled up for Tihana's parents are not exactly what I was envisioning when I wrote them up. I had wanted the dad to basically be athletic, not ripped, and the mother somethg of a farm-girl build. Muscular, exept with a bit of flab on her rounding her off. The current images work as place-holders though, and I'm probably even worse at image search than he is. I'm just putting this here for whenever Notsooldpervert gets his computer fixed. I'm trying to fill in on the character we already have, to flesh them out a little so they can be easier to use in the story. Most of the things I write are just the first thing that comes to my mind and not set in stone, so if anyone wants to change the personality or backstory of any characters, feel free to do so, as long as it's consistent with any use that character has in the story. This also applies to any and all images. If you find any image that fits a character better than the ones I put, feel free to replace them (I'm very bad at finding images, so I will appreciate that, really). --Tod Naturlich (talk) 01:42, 1 October 2017 (CEST)

I'll keep that in mind. I might alter a few, but for the most part, I do not intend to remove anything from any bios, only to add, because working around things that other people put there is actually where over half my inspiration as a writer comes from. So actually, the more characters you build the more I have to work with. BTW, that also goes for half-finished posts. If you ever feel like partially writing up a segment of the story and then throwing it to me unfinished, that actually would help me to work quite a bit as well. So, feel free to pull something like that if you have a part of the story you really want to start up but don't know exactly where to go or how it will finish. (As I said, I actually rarely have a plan for a finish in mind when I write something, which has actually been proving to be a bit of a challenge as I am now attempting to converge some story segments and still hit all the key points that will be brought up again for the revisiting event.) You know? Something occurred to me today. It talks about in the introduction how it is this town's custom to deal with rape by having the victim marry the rapist, and there are also several refferences to this dynamic occurring between much older males and young girls, the 7th grade teacher's bio even indicating it has happened with girls around age 11 or 12. However, there do not seem to be any families here with that dynamic going on. The closest thing to it is the case of the Lefort family, or the newly fleshed-out Loso family if you want to go the consensual route on it. Both of those have the girl being 15 or older at the time though, not as young as 11 like Tamaya Walton's husband Alwyn when she first got together with him. Jemini (talk) 04:43, 7 October 2017 (CEST)

You're right. The truth is, since I'm very, very bad at creating characters, I cheated. I wrote a program to generate families, get some random names from the Internet, and give it some random ages, genders, birth-months, and then I just had to write some history and find the pictures. But one of the limits in the program was that the mother should be at least 15 years older than the oldest child, and that is why no family had had younger mothers. (another limit I put was that the father must be older, and I was fighting with the age distribution of the children, since for some reason I felt the program was ignoring older children).

While there certainly should have been cases of marriage with 12-year-olds girls, I assume this was not common, since marriage would usually be demanded if/when the girl got pregnant, and thus it's not very likely at those ages. Most forced marriages must have happened after the girls got to 14 or 15 (thus my original limit for the program). The seventh grade teacher was a special case, since she was the older part, and she got pregnant from a 12 year old boy.

I still have to mess a lot with my family generator, and I will also be creating some families on my own, so I will include at least a family where the mom got pregnant really young. If you got any other idea that you think should be filled, don't hesitate to either tell me or directly add it to the roster. We still have enough room for characters, since I envision that the smallest class in the school should have at least 8 students, and we're not there yet.

Another thing is the forced relationship between a rapist and his victim. I know I wrote that in the introduction, but so far I have no found a way to write a family dynamic that works under that premise (other than having the mom commit suicide and the grandparents taking care of the baby), or the abuser killing her in a further rape as well as the babies. I'm just not good with rape, so I will ask for help in defining at least one family on this route that we can use. --Tod Naturlich (talk) 05:49, 7 October 2017 (CEST)

Well, there are some countries where it actually happens, Mexico apparently being one of them. I'm not too familiar with that type of dynamic myself, but from what I've learned of Stockholm syndrome it should actually work out. There is a reason why Stockholm syndrome is a lot more common in women, that's because it was actually an evolutionarily adaptive trait to the old practice in medieval Viking raiding type times of girls getting kidnapped from their villages by raiders, raped, and then forced to become the wives of the men who captured them. It is a trait literally adapted to make the girl get along in this exact sort of situation.

As I said, I am not exactly sure myself how it would work out, but with that information I could probably make some good guesses. Jemini (talk) 06:10, 7 October 2017 (CEST)

EDIT: Oh, also, something that could be done if we use a girl who's currently quite young, maybe in her late teens now with a school-age child already, we can snag a 15-17 year old from another family (that hasn't been detailed out yet) and make her the wife in another family that has its oldest child around 4-6. Jemini (talk) 06:34, 7 October 2017 (CEST)

EDIT: Actually, I was just looking into the random family generator tool, sounds pretty handy, but I can't find anything like what you described where you can put in various criteria like relative ages of the parents and age between the mother and oldest child. Jemini (talk) 07:12, 7 October 2017 (CEST)

I wrote the family generator tool. It's a simple Python script that uses an online API for the random names, the rest it generates on its own, so I have control of all the factors. I just pasted the code I'm using, if you want to take a look. --Tod Naturlich (talk) 09:08, 7 October 2017 (CEST)

Wow, I finally finished creating stub pages for all the characters so far. As always they are only the bare minimum I came up with, and can be freely changed or added, as long as they respect how they are used in the story. This is especially true for their images, which I didn't spent any length of time finding, and in many cases don't really align with the description. In fact I would be very thankful if anyone would help find better images for many of the characters.

I think that right now the families present represent mostly those directly involved in the school (with a few exceptions), the rest of the families that still need to be created should be people outside the school whose children are students. --Tod Naturlich (talk) 01:43, 10 October 2017 (CEST)

I've got images for most of the Franklin family how do I load them up? Telgar (talk) 7:12, 17 December 2017 (PST)

Upload the images to the wiki using the link to the left. Then named them "Disciplinary_Action_Character_{name}.jpg" and add them to the category "Disciplinary Action/Images/Characters".--Tod Naturlich (talk) 19:36, 17 December 2017 (CET)

A small suggestion, Would it be possible to add a pronunciation guide for some of the last names? An example would be the Accardis' (Akardi or Asardi) and the Fines' (is it Fyne or is it Feen-eh, like in spanish?) --MrPib (talk) 03:18, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

English is my second language, so I really don't know how to pronounce any of the names, since I never do. I'm also terrible with names, to the extent that I used a random name generator to create all the characters here, and I payed very little attention to their origin or pronunciation. So, if you want to, feel free to add a pronunciation guide, and if you have to guess, think that the story happens in a secluded area of an english speaking place, so they would have no shame in butchering a foreign name if it makes it easier on them. --Tod Naturlich (talk) 04:16, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

This list still needs more child characters in order to fill out the roster for every grade level. (would like at least 10 students in each grade level.) Please feel free to add profiles, pictures, and/or names. If you cannot think of a name, you can message me the picture on the ATF main site and I will likely be able to come up with a name after a minute or two. (I would really appreciate the help setting up the profiles though, repetitive busy work can become tiresome and slow down my ability to create the stuff everyone really wants to read. I can do it, but I will likely wind up not posting any new interesting story entries for a while if I am forced to be the one to fill it all in.) Jemini (talk) 00:27, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
