You and the other Slytherin girls follow Gemma as she leads you down a corridor. She points our dormitories for the older girls, as well as a number of bathrooms that girls from various years share. The walls are adorned with ancient tapestries, as well as portrait paintings of former residents, many of which move due to magical enchantments.

“Here we are,” Gemma says, “First year dormitories. You have to share a bathroom with the second years I’m afraid. This bathroom isn’t in use so don’t go in there. The door is locked anyway.”

Something flickered in Gemma’s eyes as she said that, making you suspicious.

“I’ll leave you girls to settle in and choose your rooms and room mates. We’re all meeting back in the common room in half an hour, so don’t be late.”

She leads you into the dormitory rooms. There are bunk beds for first years, with two girls sharing each room, and a small sitting or study room shared between four girls. As you walk past the first room, Pansy and Daphne immediately claim it.

“This will be our room,” Pansy announces, “House Elves! bring my luggage, and Daphne’s too.”

There is a loud crack as a team of three House Elves appear out of thin air, levitating the girls luggage into their room.

Pansy and Daphne take a room on the left to share together. You’d be jealous at being left out if it weren’t for Lily being with you

Daphne whispers in Pansy’s ear, and Pansy turns to her and nods.

“If you want to Emily, you and Lily can take the room next to ours,” Daphne says.

“Thanks,” you say, with only mild sarcasm, “I was waiting to ask your permission.”

Daphne rolls her eyes slightly, “We can share a study room this way. There’s another little room with a small bathroom too. These are the best first year rooms.”

You and Lily will have a room to share, and a bathroom to share with Pansy and Daphne

WORK IN PROGRESS NOT FINISHED YET You and Lily look at the room you will share. You immediately notice that the previous occupants have left some creepy looking dolls behind, which you remove from the room and dump in the corridor outside. Other than that, the room looks pretty cosy, with some windows backing on to the lake, and numerous curtains for privacy and extra warmth. Despite being underground and next to a lake, the dormitories are warm and cosy.

“Is it true that you’re a Dream Sorceress?” Daphne asks Lily, apparently offering the girl an olive branch of sorts.

“Um…” Lily starts, “Well, Professor Trelawney says I have The Sight, and that I could be really good at Divination Magic. It’s Emily that says I’m an Onero… an Onero…”

“An Oneiromancer,” you say, “Yes, a Dream Sorceress. That’s the name for seers who have prophetic dreams. Isn’t that cool?”

Pansy narrows her eyes at you suspiciously, but Daphne smiles at you and Lily.

“Well, welcome to Slytherin House Lily,” she says, holding out her hand, which Lily takes and shakes gently.

“So,” Daphne continues, “Are your parents… Muggles?”

“I don’t know who my parents are,” Lily tells her, “I was found at a hospital when I was a baby.”

“Oh,” says Daphne, looking a bit sorry, “so you’re… Did Emily tell you about her…”

“Yes, yes I’ve explained it all to her,” you say, interrupting your Pureblood friend, “anyway, let’s get our things sorted out. House Elves: Bring us Lily Smith’s luggage.”

You spend the next few minutes getting things from your Extendable Luggage Suite while Lily unpacks her few meagre possessions. You feel sorry for the girl. Her two trunks and a couple of bags and boxes are probably everything she owns in the world.

“My nanny has packed way too many things for me,” you yell from the bottom of the stairs in your luggage suite, “I’ve got lots of spare things if you need anything.”

Lily smiles when you come back upstairs and give her a spare towel, some soap, a toothbrush, and a spare blanket.

“In case you get cold,” you say smiling, “although it’s not as cold as I remember.”

“Have you been here before then Emily?” Lily asks you.

“Er… no,” you say, remembering that Emily hasn’t ever been to Hogwarts before, “it’s warmer than I imagined, I mean.”

You and Lily arrange things in your room. It had a dressing table with a large mirror, two little desks with lamps, and a large bunk bed with green curtains. You are happy when Lily says she would prefer the bottom bunk, as you are definitely a top bunk girl. Then she explains it’s because she can sleep walk in the night sometimes, and doesn’t want to fall of a ladder.

Once you are settled in, you briefly say hello to the other girls. In total, there are thirteen girls in House Slytherin first year, one more than expected. This means the girls who are normally in three groups of four are now in two groups of four and one group of five. The Hogwarts House Elves have to bring an extra bed for one girl to share her bedroom with two other girls.

Apart from yourself, Lily, Pansy and Daphne, there are nine other girls. The pureblood girls Sally-Anne Perks and Sophie Roper, are a pair of Scottish witches who already know one another. Sally is a skinny girl with bright red wavy hair and freckles, whereas Sophie has dark brown hair and Hazel eyes. Of the two of them, Sophie is by far the prettiest. They share a study room with two other girls from minor pureblood houses, Emma Vane, a studious looking girl with platted blonde hair and glasses, and Sally Smith, a shy but pretty girl with dark hair and green eyes, just like you.

The next room has some half-blood girls. They are Millicent Bulstrode, a thick set Scottish girl who you’d think to be as inbred as Crabbe and Doyle if it weren’t for her being a half-blood. Millicent shares a room with Tracey Davis, who is a tall girl with her dark brown hair cut short, like a boys. When you say hello to Tracey, she smiles and you and you notice she has beautiful blue eyes. You decide you want to get to know Tracey better. Tracey and Millicent share a study room with the last three girls, who are having to share a room meant for two. They are a pureblood Egyptian girl named Safira Tadros, a beautiful girl with a long black hair down to her waist and light brown skin that suggests a mixture of European and North African or Coptic heritage. Safira says she is a pureblood, and is pleased to meet you. Her room mates are both half-bloods, a mixed Chinese and European girl named Jiao-Jie Ling, who says her mother is an English Muggle, and her father is a Chinese Wizard, and Niamh Lovegood, a moody looking Irish girl with curly black hair and blue eyes, who barely says hello to you.

You and Lily say hello to all the girls, introducing yourself to them. The purebloods are a bit stand-offish with Lily, but politely greet her. Millicent just grunts a greeting at Lily, but says hello to you properly at least. The most friendly are Tracey, Safira and Jiao-Jie, who are all pleased to make your acquaintance.

In no time at all, Gemma comes to find you all and calls you back to the Common Room, as Professor Snape, your Housemaster, is welcoming you all to Slytherin House.
