WBWP/Quick guide for prospective writers

From All The Fallen Stories
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This story is meant to be a free space for the more skilled writers who are used to writing full detailed story posts that obey all the conventional rules to shuck those rules and experiment with new story telling techniques. One of the few rules of this story is that posts should consider 3 paragraphs consisting of no more than 5 lines each to be the guide line for the maximum post length. Preferably, posts should be shorter than that. The reason for this rule is that it is the one rule that will break you out of the other stiff writing habits you probably have.

Aside from this, you should just feel out what the previously contributing writers are doing with the story and go with it as best you can. Effectively, the only rule other than the post length is to make the story good. You should probably also avoid stepping on the toes of the other writers too hard, but just the post length and making the story good are the only real rules. You can do just about anything and breaking conventional writing rules is actually encouraged so long as breaking the rule serves to enhance the story rather than damage it.

At the moment I am writing this guide, only the quick-start story has been written, and it is a story where I present a scenario where a male of unspecified age has pulled down his pants to reveal his dick to a girl of unspecified age. However, she is demonstrated to be on the young side as she is mentioned as never having seen a penis before, although it is technically possible to achieve this even into adulthood depending on your upbringing.

Details are added from there. The player is put into the perspective of the male, but can change to the female if they want, and they can even nix the "never seen a penis before" attribute if they make the right dialogue choices. I am really going for a theme and variation angle with this story, seeing how much can be done and how many possibilities can be drawn from this one rather simplistic start.

If you do not like my starting scenario you may feel free to make your own quick-start. Simply ask and I will modify the "quick start" option to route to a list of the quick start scenarios of various authors, my own being the only one on the list so far, and you can add your own quick-start scenario under it.

This story is meant to ignore almost every writing convention, including story continuity. However, in order to play this loose with the rules and still write a good story, I am permitting only writers who have previously proven their skill and proven that they are aware of what those rules are in the first place and shown themselves to be skilled at using them before they are allowed to write for this story.

Here is a list of writers on this site who I am aware of who meet my definition of a skilled writer. Anyone who is on this list may contribute to the story. If you wish to be added to the list, please ask me and I will look over your work and see if you fit the bill. (Jemini (talk))

This is all for now. The list currently consists of only writers who I have previously seen have proven their skills, it does not contain any writers who have actually asked to be on the list yet. If you want to know what your chances are of getting on the list, I am generally looking for people who could easily wind up writing posts that are more than 10,000 characters long and just about every single one of those 10,000 characters count in such a way that you read over it and do not think the passage would work if any part of it were removed. Also, of course, it has to be an overall good story.
