"It's ok." You reassure her. "We can do this together if that's what you want. Would you like Tom and Matt to join us as well? Is that OK with you two?"
"Yeah, I'd like that." Katie answers sweetly, as if you'd just asked her if she wanted a trip to Disney World.
"Yeah that should be fun." Tom agrees surprisingly calmly.
"Erm...I guess so..." Matt sounds like he needs a little more convincing. He's been uncertain about all of this; likely because he stayed out of ignorance, and has only done anything because of the ring. You begin to ask him if he wants to when you're stopped mid sentence by your twin. He thinks he has a better fix.
"Hey kid. It's scary isn't it, all of this?" The boy nods slowly. "It's all happened so fast, Mrs Brans going a bit crazy, and then the homework and now everyone doing this kind of stuff like its normal." Matt keeps his eyes fixed on your brother, but he still stays motionless. "It kinda new for us too. We were a bit scared earlier, that's why we had to go outside for a bit to talk about it."
"What did you talk about?" He asks shyly. This interaction is keeping the silent, but no doubt anticipatory, focus of you and Katie. The others seem to be too busy with their own 'work' to even notice what's going on.
"We talked about whether we should do this kind of thing, 'cause we've never done it before. We decided that, because we're such good friends, and we trust each other, we should try it and see what it's like."
"What is it like?"
"It feels really good, especially when you do it with your best friends!"
"I don't have any friends like that." That at he first time he breaks eye contact, like he's ashamed. It's true that he does always sit in the corner on his own, often playing on his phone instead of interacting with other people. Maybe this was quite a big step for him!
"I'd like to be your friend." Tom sits on the table next to him and puts a hand on his shoulder. If he wasn't your brother, you'd think he's just making half of this up so he can get some action. But you know he's better than that. He has is moments, earlier this morning being a casing point, but he really does care as much as it looks. That's just one of the many things you love about him, just one of the reasons why he is the most awesome brother you could have!
"Can I? Be your friend?" Tom repeats himself.
"Yeah!" Matt smiles for the first time since this 'lesson' began.
"I'd like us to try this stuff together, help each other with our homework. Can you do that for me?"
Matt pauses again, hopefully to think over the ask of his new friend. The anticipation is killing you. If this doesn't work, you will probably have to lose your brother to the kid; but it's your brother that you really want right now!
"I guess it seems ok, to do this weird stuff with friends. I was just kind of scared before, it just all seemed a bit strange and I was on my own and..."
Tom pulls him in for a hug, pressing his warmth against the boy's. Matthew still isn't sure how to react at first, but he soon relaxes in to the embrace, resting his head in the nook of hid friends shoulders. Standing at only 4'6ish, you can really tell the height difference as he measures up to a teenager. Katie's about the same height, which means you must look like older siblings to these guys? Cousins? Mentors? They really are just kids! That much was easy to tell simply by watching the interaction between the boys. You were supposed to be buddy big them, looking out for them, and between the two of you you've pretty much demolished their innocence with no hope of repair! Sure, Tom started it, but you pushed them into it, even using the ring's power to get what you need. What does that make you?! Manipulative? A monster? Or just resourceful and a necessary wrong? You'll have to look into it more later. But for now, monster or not, you have all have to get this homework done and this genuinely seems like the best option for the four of you.
You return to Earth to gaze upon Tom drawing the kid into a delicate kiss. It doesn't surprise you as much as it should, discovering his interest in boys; the way he talks about Marcel has always been...different to how someone would talk about a friend. Now the hormone game has really been kicked off, you wouldn't put it past them to get a little action together in the future. As you have realized today, he's not the only family member touched by bisexual desires. Your focus returns to the beautiful girl stood next to you. She's now taken your hand and is joining you watching the boys gracefully make out.
