In that case, all Chad has to do to start their downfall is just whisper, at any time, "You know Dana is just manipulating you, right Gary? You do know she doesn't really even like you, right?" Then he could probably just watch it all break down from the side lines, repair his friendship with Gary, and then plan a deeper revenge on Dana for later.
