Well, that last bit would be another example of spontaneous writing. I thought it kinda made sense with how they were acting before. I figure, beings Beatriz is so against the sexual repression of the town, she wanted the exact opposite in every conceivable way for her daughters. (This also explains the home-schooling as well.)
