The Last Horcrux/Hogwarts/House Slytherin/Dormitories/Go to sleep
Eventually, you are simply too tired from the events of the day, and within minutes of lying your head on your pillow, you fall fast asleep…
- - - - -
You find yourself floating in darkness. You can see Lily floating in the darkness too. She looks so safe and peaceful, with an almost golden glow of happiness in contrast to the shadows that surround her.
Then you realise, you are not actually looking at Lily, you are looking at her soul. It is floating, several feet above her body, very close to you. You can see a little silver cord linking her soul to her body. She is perfectly safe, just resting outside of her physical vessel. Maybe she sleeps like this every night? There is nothing to worry about, unless her cord became severed.
Then you notice it, there is a monster in the room, a hideous twisted blackened thing, made of barbs and hatred. It is lying next to Lily, to her body, stroking it as she sleeps! You desperately want to save her, to chase the monster away or to flee with her to safety, but you can’t speak, and you can’t move, and you can’t wake up…
- - - - -
You awake, and realise that the monster is still sleeping. You weep to yourself, silently, so as not to wake it. You really hope that the monster doesn’t hurt Lily.
- - - - -
The next morning, you are woken by Lily gently shaking you.
“Come on Emily,” she says kindly but firmly, “we’ve got to get ready or we’ll miss breakfast. They’ve given us a timetable full of lessons. You’ve gotta get up and get dressed! I woke you up already but you fell back to sleep.”
You feel awful and groggy, but you know you need to get up. Mornings never agree with you, and this particular morning seems to be taunting you. You drag yourself out of bed and head for the shower.
