Talk:Life Hacks/Mods Guide/Adjust Local Settings/Psionics by Psionic Level
Added psychometabolics, the ability to control the natural functions of your own body or another person's body using psionic power. Jemini (talk) 08:38, 3 November 2016 (CET)
I always considered psychometabolics as a subset of telepathy as it would entail altering the signals going to the body from the brain. --Elerneron (talk) 10:06, 3 November 2016 (CET)
That's a pretty interesting way of looking at it. I can see that, but I think it may be better to list them as separate categories or else most people may not realize that sort of thing is possible. Jemini (talk) 10:56, 3 November 2016 (CET)
Well, I gave these things their own pages so we could get as specific as we need to without overwhelming the page too much. We could provide a breakdown of each use of each available power and their effects at Psionic level. With how comprehensive we've been elsewhere, that would make sense. Edit: I put up an couple of examples to demonstrate what I was thinking. --Elerneron (talk) 11:42, 3 November 2016 (CET)
I've also seen it called Neuralkinesis, where you basically turn them into a living puppet. Their minds are free while you control their body completely. --Notsooldpervert (talk) 14:27, 3 November 2016 (CET)
That would be a form of mind control as it controls conscious actions as opposed to autonomic functions. Psychometabolics is controlling things that are usually more or less outside of one's conscious control like heart rate, adrenaline production, orgasm (almost no one can will themselves to orgasm), etc. I personally don't like to apply the -kinesis suffix to anything that isn't primarily physical vice mental, and controlling the nervous system is closer to the later than the former in my mind. Just my 2 cents on "Neuralkinesis". --Elerneron (talk) 18:07, 3 November 2016 (CET)
Neuralkinesis is all about the nerves. Mind control forces their mind to move their body whereas neuralkinesis would make the body move itself. It also included things like deadening/inflicting pain, which could logically be extended to other autonomic nervous systems such as physical arousal/orgasm (which would be confusing as hell if you had no mental/emotional reason for it). What about empathy? Once you reach clear reading level, should you start including telempathic projection to influence then evetually control others' emotions? --Notsooldpervert (talk) 19:05, 3 November 2016 (CET)
