If they couldn't afford the flight out, why is Jack flying with him? Wouldn't it make more sense for Jack to drive him? Maybe Jack is an Over The Road trucker and he takes Tyler with him on a cross country run. Instead of the airport, she has to meet them at the shipping hub where his trailer is being unloaded.
